Spinning Top - Pinot Noir 2019  ➺ Shop via Link In Bio.

The Spinning Top Pinot Noir has been more consistent than anything else in our lives. A great drop vintage on vintage, and the '19 is no exception. A bright yet elegant blend that speaks to the diverse terroirs of Marlborough. Sourced from Upper Wairau Valley, Rapaura, Dillons Point, and Awatere Valley, it’s all about red fruits, a whiff of black pepper, and dried herbs. The palate has a chewy texture balanced by long, fine-grain tannins, giving it a slightly dusty finish. A structured, sophisticated Pinot, with balance and character to stand up to richer dishes while still offering that Marlborough freshness.

Allocation Alert ➺ Radikon

The bottles might be small, but Radikon is a revered giant in the natural wine world. Cult wines you sn**ch when you see them. If any producer was going to make you obsessed with orange wine, this is the one.

And with extremely low yields over the last few vintages, Radikon is set to be in even shorter supply in the coming years, so pluck up the courage. It's now or never.

Kopp - Chardonnay 2023 ➺ Shop via Link In Bio.

Chardonnay with a pounding pulse. Golden apples, white peach, and a naughty streak of zippy acidity. There’s just enough creaminess to smooth out the edges, but no flabby oak or excess weight—just pure, clean refreshment with a mineral backbone. Slightly nutty, a little buttery, and a whole lot of fun to drink. From the 1 ha that Ewald Kopp started with in 1996, today the winery has expanded to encompass 32 hectares of vineyards in the oft-acclaimed Ortenau region. Ze Germans do it darn well.

Longview - Vista Shiraz / Barbera 2022 ➺ Shop via Link In Bio.

We want to say ‘food wine’ but there’s much more going on here to entertain us on its own. This blend is spicy and berry-driven with lingering savoury length. Barbera with the acid. Shiraz rounding it out. Still, something makes us want to reach for the meats and pasta.

L&C Poitout - Bourgogne Tonnerre Chardonnay 2022 ➺ Shop via Link In Bio.

A stone's throw from Chablis is the Tonnerre region, and it's no poor neighbour. This pale straw golden tonic offers up clouds of aroma, think ripe pears, nectar and stone-fruit. Kimmeridgian minerality comes up as oysters shells and slate on the palate, and the dry finish zinging with fresh acid is a winner. This is good to drink now, or in the next few years. Absolute cracker.

Vintage Journal ➺ Jauma, Adelaide Hills

The throes of vintage are wild and fleeting—those few months where everything hinges on the whims of weather and ripening fruit. It’s a season of instinct and urgency, early mornings and late nights. Amidst the flurry, we stole a moment of James and Sophie's precious time to check-in and see what they've been up to in the winery.

“This week, we picked the very first crop from our home vineyard in Lenswood, where we live and where we will open our own cellar door later this year. We began planting 5 years ago, and this year we harvested Chenin Blanc, Savagnin, Cab Franc and Gewurztraminer. All these micro-ferments are happily bubbling away—we're very excited to see how the vinous story of this land we have the honour of caring for unfolds.

To be honest, I would have planted our whole farm to Savagnin, but Sophie (which means wise in Greek) suggested this might not be the smartest idea. She is right, of course, but harvesting the first Savagnin grapes was very exciting. This block is named after my mother Mary Lou who contributed both financially and with kindness and great-grandparenting to our farm which she visits regularly.”

Allocation Alert ➺ Michel Gahier

Michel Gahier, the maestro of the Jura, is the latest allocation to arrive on our shores. Iconic oxidative whites, and fresh ethereal reds. His take? The soils are so fertile and the vines so healthy that the wine produces itself, he simply nudges things along. Delicacy, fragility and complexity all at once. A master of his craft forming humble wines in high demand.

Hot Drops ➺ Delinquente's Hell Series

This road to hell is paved with an experimental edge. And if it tastes this good, we'll eagerly sell our soul. A motley of irregular varieties and left-of-field techniques form styles rarely seen in the Riverland. Its scorching climate appears hostile to most, but Con-Greg Grigoriou has carved a comfortable niche for his wines that show another side to the region. On this particular occasion, we encourage you to make a deal with the devil. And make it quick.

Ganbazán - Ámbar Rías Baixas Albariño 2023 ➺ Shop via Link In Bio.

This is serious Albariño with unexpected depth. On the nose, fennel flowers are supercharged with lemon verbena, lemongrass, and a sweet sherbet hit. Fun minerality is matched with fresh acidity. It carries you through with orange citrus and tamarind along the way, then subtle hints of saffron and butter appear with time. Dynamic, graceful and good enough to have you rethinking Albariño. Shall we add, organic and certified sustainable to boot.
