'Highlife' Vintage Posters are artist Clare Napper's collection of 50 artworks inspired by vintage travel and tourism ads of the first half of the 20th Century. In the same style, they tell the story of the ‘good life’ we lead here in Dubai. For westerners, middle class and those that enjoy the privileges that an ex-pat life in UAE can bring, the collection aims to be tongue-in-cheek advertising o

f the places, services and situations that we all know and love around the city. Clare Napper is an artist and graphic designer who has lived in Dubai for 13 years. After 14 years working in branding and advertising she quit to set up her own pop-art studio and pursue independent design projects.

“Dubai offers a lifestyle that must be one of the best in the world, and as a designer I was keen to find a creative outlet for my time lording it up here! I wanted to create some ‘real’ souvenirs with a deeper insight into life out here that ex-pats can take away as fond memories; after all, many of us won’t be here forever.”

Introducing my newest poster ‘Sandy Nights’ ⛺️🌙 Inspired by all the times I have been camping in the desert with friends, such great memories of living in the UAE. One of the times we camped near the there was a lot more wildlife in our camp, including a white scorpion under my tent and a feisty camel spider that came running at us after we flicked him away from our campfire. Camping fun! ❤️⛺️

Bag design inspiration 👩🏼‍🎨👀 I wanted to make a decorative bag with a multicultural appeal, so went for a mishmash of all of my favourite decorative art forms from across the world. I looked at folk art patterns from Mexico, Spain and Scandinavia. Then drew on how Pakistani painted buses and Sicilian painted carts tell stories with decorative imagery. I especially love how Dolce&Gabbana have used this Carretto style throughout their collections, so awesome. Here’s my 40 AED version! Thanks again @spinneysuae for the blank canvas 👜🎨💚
