Libby's Pride Wines

Libby's Pride Wines Libby's Pride boasts with eight varietals: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Sweet Rose, Merlot, Shiraz, C Elizabeth started in the wine industry 18 years ago.
(1)

At that time she carried no knowledge of wine and had to go and study about it. She never even drank wine, but after she did a prelim course at Cape Wine Academy, she then got a new mind set of how to enjoy and appreciate wine. She worked at a wine company for 5 years as a marketer, but unfortunately that company closed and left her with nothing, but on the other hand, she had all the contacts and

business relationships she built up over all the years, and thought she can use that to the best of her ability. After lots of discussions, and identifying a supplier, it was the dawn of a new brand called “Libby's Pride wines”. Elizabeth's nick name and her star sign is Leo, and that symbol is of strength and PRIDE. She carries lots of passion for the wine industry, and with her determination she wants to become the most successful Black Women owned company. Trading in good quality is first and foremost the business of Libby's Pride Wines. These wines are produced under the management team of Libby's Pride and wine maker Hennie Huskisson and as per requirements of the company clientele.

KEEP YOUR CIRCLE SMALL

A Short Valuable Story

A young girl asked an elderly woman:
"Do I really need friends in life?"

The elderly woman responded:
"Yes. Life is truly very rough. There should be someone by your side with whom you can talk for hours without feeling that they would judge you; on whose shoulders you can cry, one who will give you emotional support. When no one will be there for you, they should be there. One who should help you share the good times and overcome the difficult ones."

The young girl asked:
"Is it true that a fake friend is more dangerous than an enemy?"

The elderly woman responded:
"Yes. It's because you know who your enemy is and you're not going to let them get close to you. But a false friend is pretending while getting your trust. They find out your vulnerabilities, your secrets and your dreams. They know which button to press and how to stab you in the back."

The young girl asked:
"How do I avoid being surrounded by fake friends?"

The elderly woman paused for a short moment, then asked,
"Between a small garden and a forest, which one has more snakes and scorpions?"

The young girl responded:
"The forest, sure!"

The elderly woman smiled, and then said:
"Good! When you keep your circle of friends small like a small garden, the less snakes and scorpions you have to worry about, even rats. The fewer people you hang out with, the fewer problems you have to deal with. When I was young, I had a very big group of friends. But as I grew old and wise with experience, my circle of friends became smaller. I realised that quality outweighs quantity when it comes to friendship. Don’t fool yourself by holding onto the illusion that everyone is your friend. You may have numerous acquaintances, but real friends will always be just a few people you love and trust. The best way to prevent yourself from falling into the fake friend trap is by being more mindful about the size of your circle."

Today is World Day Against Child Labour.

According to the 2018-documentary, Invisible Hands (directed by former news reporter Shraysi Tandon), roughly 200 million children work in virtual slavery across the world.

As per the ethics code set out by the Wine and Agriculture Industry Ethical Trade Association (WIETA), the South African wine industry condemns any form of . We believe that "children should learn, not earn."

"I was waiting in line for a ride at the airport. When a cab pulled up, the first thing I noticed was the taxi was polished to a bright shine. Smartly dressed in a white shirt, black tie, and freshly pressed black slacks, the cab driver jumped out and rounded the car to open the back passenger door for me.
He handed me a laminated card and said, 'I'm Wasu, your driver. While I'm loading your bags in the trunk, I'd like you to read my mission statement.'
Taken aback, I read the card. It said, 'Wasu's Mission Statement: To get my customers to their destination in the quickest, safest, and cheapest way possible in a friendly environment.'
This blew me away. Especially when I noticed the inside of the cab matched the outside. Spotlessly clean!
As he slid behind the wheel, Wasu said, 'Would you like a cup of coffee? I have a thermos of regular and one of decaf.'
I said jokingly, 'No, I'd prefer a soft drink.'
Wasu smiled and said, 'No problem. I have a cooler up front with regular and Diet Coke, lassi, water, and orange juice.'
Almost stuttering, I said, 'I'll take a lassi since I’ve never had one before.'
Handing me my drink, Wasu said, 'If you'd like something to read, I have Good Housekeeping magazine, Reader’s Digest, The Bible, and a Travel + Leisure magazine.'
As we were pulling away, Wasu handed me another laminated card, 'These are the stations I get and the music they play, if you'd like to listen to the radio.'
And as if that weren't enough, Wasu told me he had the heater on and asked if the temperature was comfortable for me.
Then he advised me of the best route to my destination for that time of day. He also let me know he'd be happy to chat and tell me about some of the sights or, if I preferred, to leave me with my own thoughts.
'Tell me, Wasu,' I was amazed and asked him, 'have you always served customers like this?'
Wasu smiled into the rear view mirror. 'No, not always. In fact, it's only been in the last two years. My first five years driving, I spent most of my time complaining like all the rest of the cabbies do. Then I heard about power of choice one day.'
'Power of choice is that you can be a duck or an eagle. If you get up in the morning expecting to have a bad day, you'll rarely disappoint yourself. Stop complaining! Don't be a duck. Be an eagle. Ducks quack and complain. Eagles soar above the crowd.'
'That hit me right,' said Wasu. He continued and said, 'It is about me. I was always quacking and complaining, so I decided to change my attitude and become an eagle. I looked around at the other cabs and their drivers. The cabs were dirty, the drivers were unfriendly, and the customers were unhappy. So I decided to make some changes. I put in a few at a time. When my customers responded well, I did more.'
'I take it that has paid off for you,' I said.
'It sure has,' Wasu replied. 'My first year as an eagle, I doubled my income from the previous year. This year, I'll probably quadruple it. My customers call me for appointments on my cell phone or leave a message on it.'
Wasu made a different choice. He decided to stop quacking like ducks and start soaring like eagles. I hope we all decide to soar like an eagle and not quack like a duck."

Good day people, Iam raising my concerns here now and please take note of it?
I use my social media platforms for my business too, so if you leave a message on messenger and I don't reply, even if you see me online it doesn't mean I'm chit chatting, because if Iam I will respond to you. But If I don't then I'm busy with business. I do have international people that I liase with on messenger.
NOW
If you say Hi, I don't reply, then do not leave flippen question marks like this ??????
I'm not your mate okay?
If you have anything to ask or to say to me feel free to do that, and if I feel that I need to reply I will, if not I won't. And the next thing I'll do is to block you. I have to much on plate then to be on the look out for childish and stupid remarks and things.
Hope my message is clear😡😡😡
THANK YOU.

"The unfortunate truth of owning and running a business.

Running a business is really hard.

What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid back people.

People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.

Friends and family will expect discounts and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.

You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.

Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work life balance. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All whilst being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend... it’s one of the hardest things you will try and balance

There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed. It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.

Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives. Be kind, be patient, support small businesses…….and hopefully more of us will stick around!"

Extend a little more Grace, we are doing the best we can ❤️

Here,
U gee my vanmôre 'n sleutel vir hierdie dag.
Maar ek bid Here vir wysheid om die regte deure
Daarmee oop te sluit. Deure by plekke waar ek U
Met vreugde en vrymoedigheid kan saamnooi.

Here,
Vreugde sal verskaf.

Here,
Aanraking, 'n warm handdruk of 'n drukkie,
Of al gee ek net 'n luisterende oor,
'n oomblik se stilstaan by iemand wat dit benodig,
Of net 'n glas water, laat dit met liefde en omgee geskied.

Here,
Gee my krag, wysheid en liefde.
Gee my uithouvermoë en alles wat ek nodig het.
Gee my 'n dankbare hart.
Stap saam met my deur hierdie dag.
Dan sal ek alles met U hulp kan vermag.
AMEN en AMEN 🙌🙌

Monday Motivation!
If anyone knows the Madame well , will know that she enjoys fine dining and a good glass of fine wine.! 😊
Today I want to introduce my fellow Sister in business and awesome wine buddy Elizabeth Petersen who will be participating in this years wine show . We have a friendship that started over a glass of wine and of our cause of black women empowermemt!✊ 🍸🍸🍸
Here's her amaaaazing story !

Iam pleased to be a South African woman who prides myself on creating wines that reflect my own flamboyant and extrovert personality.
The style of Libby's Pride wines has taken years to perfect and one can only become truly accomplished at something you love, through passion and dedication. Iam proud to be putting my name to this wines for everyone to enjoy!
I take pride in being Libby Petersen and to be sharing my wine journey with you!
I started in the wine industry in the year 2000 as the first 100% black owned brand called Lindiwe wines, 5 years later we had to close due to financial constraints we were told we are a risk being black.
Two years after that in 2009 a wine maker Hennie Huskisson took my hand and we started Libby's Pride wines with nothing , and 15 years later iam so proud to be where i am through Gods help.

Let's all support this beautiful and awesome friend of mine and come out and enjoy a glass of Libby 🍸🍸🍸💃💃💃 Thank you Vanessa for the acknowledgement 🤗♥️🌹

Too many of us as business owners are coy, apologetic, inconsistent, fearful and/or uncomfortable about asking for and insisting on our asking price...almost as if we need to apologize for what we charge. Rubbish!

Assuming we have ironed out any problems with and now sell a great product/service... we need to realise that we offer something valuable and that it is worth paying for. We need to believe this and be our very own first number one fan...if we aren't how can we expect others to be? We need to set and hold our price and then educate on and compel others around our value....not discount! We need to be firm that if we cut our price its only if we cut our delivery or service....and our customers will be the poorer for it!!

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Max Ehrmann, "Desiderata".

Today is Mandela Day. A day to celebrate a life of an ordinary man, who made a decision to live for something far greater than himself and that's what made him so extraordinary.

Most companies will be out in full force getting their staff to do their 67 minutes in his honour but being more like Madiba is more than painting a classroom or handing out meals - it's about how we treat others, it's about being kind, being a great friend, being respectful, sending a text to support a friend at a milestone, calling to say 'hey well done', sometimes its just showing up because your presence is needed - to hold their hand whilst their world falls apart, or simply to pray. Bake someone a cake. Visit or call your Gran. Make amends.

We all have the capacity to BeMoreMadiba, it started way back when we shared our simple peanut butter and jam sandwiches at school. That's the beauty and simplicity of serving others - just that now we are opening our hearts to their suffering - not just our lunch boxes.

May we ever seek ordinary ways to make things better for others. Go on, be extraordinary. Not just today but always. Not just because of who Madiba was - but because of who You are.
