Welcome to Tierhoek, a distinguished farm of beauty and diversity. Situated high in the peaks (760m) of the Piekenierskloof Mountain, just on the border of the Cederberg. The farm flourishes due to cold, rainy winters and long, warm summers that are cooled down by afternoon Atlantic breezes.

With this euphoric comment noted in the visitor’s book, well-known winemaker Newald Marais, saluted Kranskop Winery on 9 April 2003. Never imagining that years later, he would return to the Breede River Valley as the proud owner of this remarkable boutique wine estate.

Although the cellar’s first production year was in 2001, stories of yore date the first vines planted circa 1792. The craggy, rocky ledge atop Kranskop was inspiration for the hill’s name. And its rugged stature and striking visual appeal deeply influenced the look of the winery.

This 24-hectare wine estate was once a part of a much bigger farm acquired in 1692 by the French Huguenot Francois du Toit. He was the first to discover the passage through the treacherous Drakenstein Mountains, which is why the pass is known today as Du Toitskloof Pass.

Several generations later, his son-in-law inherited this piece of the estate as a dowry. So dissatisfied was he at its diminutive size, wedged between two much bigger parts of land, that he dubbed it Druk-My-Niet, meaning ‘don’t squeeze me’.

Meerendal’s wine heritage started in 1702 when sixty thousand vines were planted. More than three hundred years later, we continue this proud history, with over one hundred and fifty thousand vines on the estate.

The wine journey for the Coertze family began in 2004 when they invested in Meerendal and so became part of this prestigious history. Passionate about the estate, vines and wines, the family always works to improve lives for those at Meerendal, and the quality they produce.

DeMorgenzon, ‘the morning sun,’ was so named as it is the first part of the Stellenboschkloof valley to see the sun because of its high altitude and aspects. We cover the top southern and eastern slopes of Ribbokkop, overlooking the pinnacle of Kanonkop from where a cannon was fired to alert the farms in the region that a ship had put into Table Bay. The first road from Cape Town to Stellenbosch ran through the Stellenbosch Kloof.

Situated in the heart of the Durbanville Wine Valley you will find , which is a family-owned and operated wine cellar. Although not intentionally award-driven, there is no denying the status of their Wine of Origin Cape Town, boutique wines.

Here, being handmade is more than just a physical process and approach, it is about perfecting the small details along the way while treating each batch of juice with respect throughout its journey from the vine to Nitida wines. It is also about working with nature and thereby ensuring that the wine embodies their attitude and brand.
