Interesting article around additional funding to local government. I agree that municipalities that spend responsibly should get additional funding. Seems like a nobrainer to me... I am sure everyone would agree so we can fix more roads!

Many councils in South Africa are a mess – they do not provide proper services, they are in debt to Eskom and their residents suffer from a lack of water and electricity as a result.

We have a 132KV trip affecting half of the City.

We are attending to it.

☝🏻 As per Msunduzi, hence why all of Hilton is off including Winterskloof, Hilton Gardens, Mt Homes, Leonard, Hilton Central. We are awaiting feedback from them once they identify the issue. We share your frustrations and continue to raise the concerns around business and households who rely on the electricity to function.

We can see that Mt Homes, Winterskloof, Dennis Shepstone, Cedara Road, Daisy etc power has returned.

Noting that the below two areas have not...

1. Hilton Central, including Hilton Ave, Park Lane, Chalet, Azalea,Flamingo, Cowan, Sundale, Acutt, Brindy,Groenekloof, Vlei and others within that supply.
2. Lower Hilton Gardens, William Younger/ Monzali.
Please, we will keep querying with regards to these two. I imagine they have isolated a fault after energizing the supply.

*HILTON ELECTRICITY STATUS* 14H30 - 05 / 12 / 25

There are currently various outages effecting different parts of Hilton and surrounds supplied by Msunduzi Municipality.
1. Winterskloof, Dennis Shepston.
2. Hilton "Central" From Hilton Ave supply.
3. Hilton Gardens, lower part of William Younger / Monzali.

There are a lot of outages throughout the Msunduzi supplied areas. We are unable to get detailed feedback on each for now, except that they are attending.

We will provide a further update as and when we receive them. We share your frustrations on the lack of feedback.

As the festivities wind down, while we all spend time with loved ones, head back to work, have some down time or just taking one day at a time, I want to wish all our Ward 6 residents, young and old a happy, safe, healthy and successful 2025.

Let us continue to work together for a safer, cleaner and functioning home we can all be proud of. Thank you for the support, effort and kindness in 2024. May we all find peace and closure for those we have lost 🕊️

It was a super busy weekend 💙
Saturday we had our last ward 6 branch meeting with a little party for the kids 🥳

We moved to a lovely service of our late friend Manie to remember him. 🫶🕊

Then off to the Hilton security appreciation lunch braai with all security companies, Hilton SAPS and community security initiatives as always supported by Quarry Spar.

And lastly, a fun walk / run fundraiser in aid of the Hilton Buddies this morning around Hilton Gardens 🏃‍♀️, so much fun and a great organisation ❤️🇿🇦

Eskom is currently working on the fault effecting a large part of Merrivale.

There is no time for repair at this stage.

I have noted the power failure in "Central" Hilton, Flamingo, Azalea,Sundale, Acutt, Park Lane, Chalet,Brindy, Groenekloof and surrounds. I have alerted Msunduzi Electricity department and they aknowledge. I also told them that their phones hardly work and people can not report. Please try if you can.
