This beautiful classic red is named after the Route 62 highway that passes through the beautiful Tradouw Valley. Matured in French oak for twenty months and bottled unfiltered.

This is a pure Cabernet Sauvignon made from 46 clone. A complex note gives away to underlying tones of raspberries, blackberries and red fruit, followed by a lingering herbal finish. Drink now through 2026.

Enjoy with beef Wellington or slow roasted shoulder of lamb or lamb knuckle on a fresh tomato and herb polenta.

Residual sugar: 2.5g/ℓ
Total Acidity: 5.6g/ℓ
pH 3.5

JOUBERT-TRADAUW Reserwe Cabernet Franc is a classic, well-balanced thinly layered wine with brooding garnet of sweet red and black hedgerow fruit combined with stewed apples and cranberry. Hints of spice with cigar box aromas. Tannins are re-assuring with a cedar plum finish.

Compliments any hearty meat dish like oxtail, cog a vin, spicy foods and pulled pork. It plays well with spicy undertones but is more suitable for neutral dishes like bouillebaisse and a tom yum soup.

The story behind Joubert-Tradauw.

Sixty-one years ago, Schalk-Willem Joubert left Wellington for the fertile Tradouw Valley to farm mainly with fruit and wine grapes.

His son, Jacobus Joubert, Meyer’s father, realised the potential of growing premium grape cultivars for the production of wine. They delivered Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon to the Co-operative Cellar in Barrydale, Cabernet Franc was planted on the farm in 1982.

This brilliant Cabernet Franc is one of the best in South Africa, produced in the slightly unlikely surroundings of Tradouw in the Klein Karoo.

Grapes of this Merlot were harvested at a higher sugar concentration of 24 °Balling resulting in a fuller bodied wine with an alcohol content of 14 percent.

After alcoholic and malolactic fermentation the wine was aged in old French oak barrels for a period of 12 months.

The wine is fruity with aroma's of cherries, plum and blackcurrant.
Individually bottled, labeled and waxed by the winemaker Kruger Theunissen.

Ready to drink or to be cellared for 8 months.

A fresh style Pinot Noir with a deep pink colour. The grapes were harvested from the Keisie Valley in the Klein Karoo at a lower sugar concentration of 21 °Balling resulting in a lower alcohol content of 12 percent.

The grapes were handled delicately during the colder fermentation process to create an easy drinking wine. Aroma's of unripe strawberries and rose petal are present.

Each bottle was individually labeled by the winemaker Kruger Theunissen.

Drink chilled or on ice.

The Barrydale Redfin minnow (Pseudobarbus burchelli) and our Pinot Noir are both products of the unique terroir of the Tradouw valley: mountain water, shale soils and cool climate.

Produced in only the best vintages with the best fruit, it offers a bouquet of violet and dried rose petals, red cherries, pomegranate and sous bois.

Black cherry, strawberry and hints of dark chocolate on palate, it is complex, yet silky. Juicy with a soft lingering finish.
