Our Story
Our founder Kraig Torres loves beer. You think you love beer, sure. But do you love beer so much that you created a craft beer bottle shop from scratch? Yeah, that’s what he did.
In 2009, Kraig opened up Hop City, and it immediately became Valhalla to craft beer aficionados across the metro Atlanta area. Our original location in West Midtown boasted thousands of bottles and cans of beer from around the globe, along with dozens of growler fills, and everything homebrewers needed to craft their own creations. In fact, several of Atlanta’s current brewing stalwarts can trace their roots back to Hop City’s homebrew supplies.
Over the years, Hop City changed. We added a unique, curated collection of wines. We added extra outposts in Atlanta’s Krog St. Market, the West End, Birmingham (AL), and Fayetteville. Craft beer pairs perfectly with food, so we opened Boxcar ATL in Atlanta’s West End, along with Barleygarden Kitchen & Craft Bar in Alpharetta’s Avalon development and Fayetteville’s Pinewood Forest.
The original West Midtown location may have closed, but like many other things, Hop City rolls with the changes. What’s next for Kraig and the team? Who knows, but it probably involves beer. We invite you along for the journey.
