This Easter there is no better way to celebrate than with a glass of a delicious Ardnamurchan single malt 🥃

The choices are varied and always interesting.

How about the peated mezcal cask release at 30ppm? Only 5000 bottles that started life in an ex-bourbon barrel before being finished for 20 months in ex-mezcal barrels.

What of the luxuriously rich sherry cask release or the intriguingly soft and subtle Madeira cask release?

With Ardnamurchan it is never same old, same old. These guys are niche, creative and industry innovators.

Don’t just take my word for it. Call in and sample at The Scottish Gantry today.

The Kids have had their eggs. They have run you ragged all day and the family dinner was a great success. Now for the best part.

It’s time for you to sit down and savour your favourite gin & tonic from the Scottish Gantry.

How about The Botanist from Bruichladdich.

It’s a Scottish Gantry favourite with 31 botanicals and 22 of which are hand foraged on Islay. It is versatile and can take any tonic or garnish. So when it’s “me time” it’s time for The Botanist.

Ok, so Easter is approaching, and as we celebrate this fabulous time of year we have gifting choices to make for our friends, and decisions about Easter dinner pairings.

Boring old chocolate eggs or a bottle of one of Scotland’s finest gins? 🍸

Boring old chocolate eggs or a bottle of GlenAllachie 12 single malt (Just voted the world’s best single malt)? 🥃

Boring old chocolate eggs or a bottle of a rich Italian red wine? 🍷

Boring old chocolate eggs or a bottle of crisp and dry French white wine? 🥂

It’s really a no brainer.

Make this Easter special with the right choice..... make the short trip to the Scottish Gantry stores in Edinburgh, Stirling and Milngavie.

With something of a Midas touch when it comes to their latest releases, sweeping a number of golds at the recent World Whisky Awards, Tri Carragh whiskies are certainly ones you’re going to want to have tasted for yourself!

Aiming to release whiskies that spark healthy debates, and open conversations, what better place to taste and engage in such conversations than with the Tri Carragh team themselves! These are drams to be shared and savoured.

There are still a few tickets left to both our Milngavie and Stirling tastings later this month, so grab your ticket now whilst there still are some, because much like their whiskies, tickets are selling fast! All Tri Carragh’s releases are strictly limited single casks, so once they’re gone, they’re gone, never to be replicated again. This may be your one and only chance to pick these ones up for yourself!

When people think of Spanish wine, there is usually one place that instantly springs to mind. Rioja.

Whilst this tends to dominate the minds of wine enthusiasts everywhere, there is a relatively new kid on the block. Well, new in a sense of modern exposure, there’s nothing ‘new kid’ about an area making monuments of Bacchus (God of Wine) over 2000 years ago! Ribera Del Duero.

Essentially unknown outside of Spain until the 1980s, Ribera Del Duero has catapulted to stardom over the past 40 years and now even rivals its famous neighbour, Rioja.

Drive 2 hours north of Madrid and upon first glance, it looks more like Mars, than a place that produces world class wines! However, the extreme climatic conditions - bleak, rocky and sitting at almost 1000m - is the key to their wines.

Cold, cold nights and warm, warm days. Long cold winters, hot dry summers. These extreme conditions mean that the growing season is both short and intense, producing very limited yields. However, the few grapes that the vines do produce, make hugely powerful red wines, that hold intensely concentrated flavours.

If you’re used to Rioja, then why not give their boisterous, bold and more intense big brother Ribera Del Duero a spin by picking up a bottle at The Scottish Gantry

It generally takes a long time to gain some traction in the crowded and competitive space that is the world of independent bottling.

However, this is certainly not the case for Tri Carragh, who only released their first bottles in 2022. They bring more than 20 years of industry experience and passion into each release that they bring to the market. Their criteria for cask choices are based simply on flavour and complexity and all at highly competitive prices.

Already dripping in gold medal awards, they have most recently added Best Highlands Single Cask whisky & Best Highlands Small Batch whisky to their trophy cabinet. Pick up one of the Tri Carragh award winning whiskies in The Scottish Gantry now. They are all limited releases and are going once, going twice.... going fast.

Being at the most Westerly point of the Scottish mainland means that standing out is something Ardnamurchan is used to. What makes it even easier for them to do so, is by making whiskies that are in themselves, outstanding.

Since opening in 2014, Ardnamurchan has already made serious waves in the industry, winning Best New Distillery three times in a row, before then adding Best Distillery to the list.

Calling such an untouched and pristine location home, means that having as small a carbon footprint as is possible is essential to them. The distillery runs entirely on local renewables, hyro-electric power from a nearby river, solar panels and a biomass boiler all gain ticks in the caring for the environment boxes. Furthermore, any byproducts than can be reused, are, with their draff & pot ale feeding the cows of local farmers. It’s no surprise they were Global Sustainable Distillery of the Year in 2024.

Whilst they have a light footprint on the environment, their whiskies certainly abide by different rules, leaving a long, lasting impact on the palate. Their classic West Coast profile brought them the Craft Producer of the Year Award in 2024, whilst their AD Core took gold at IWSC, and Maclean’s Nose took gold at both WWA & Las Vegas.

Stop by the Scottish Gantry this month to sample the spirit of the Ardnamurchan peninsula for yourself, or join us for their hosted tasting evening in our Edinburgh store on Thursday 24th April

Traditional and innovative are two words that are seldom found next to each other. They’re opposites right? Complete contrasts.

Yet, Lagg embraces these polar opposites, holding them close to their core values when making single malt whisky.

They are a distillery who uses timeless traditions to act as a guiding light - much like the Ailsa Craig lighthouse embodied by the rounded corks on their bottles - to move forward, without letting those same traditions trap them in old ways.

To them, contrasts are where the fun is. Where interesting things happen. It is not out with the old and in with the new, but rather keep the old around whilst phasing in the new to shake things up.

Come and see what they are up to at our Edinburgh store tomorrow, Saturday 29th of March, where Lagg’s will be pouring tasters all afternoon for you to sample and to talk you through everything that is Lagg, should you be inclined to stop by

For any distillery, having your whisky celebrated on the world stage is what dreams are made of.

Winning a medal at the highly prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Awards. Winning an award at the IWSC. Winning Distillery of the Year….

With that in mind, imagine what it takes to bring home almost 60 such awards in a single year, including Scotch Distillery of the Year and 7 double gold medals at San Francisco!

That takes something special. That’s as good as it gets. That’s what Loch Lomond achieved in 2024 - their ‘Golden Year’.

Taste for yourself what it takes…

All Loch Lomond whiskies are on special offer this week across all our stores and online.

02/02/2025

Historically, GlenAllachie (Valley of the rocks in Gaelic) was a high output component for numerous whisky blends. In 2017 this all changed when the distillery was acquired by whisky legend Billy Walker. With over 50 years experience in the whisky industry and having been enrolled into Whisky Magazine’s prestigious Hall of Fame, this was not Billy Walker’s first rodeo. His first call of action was to drastically cut back on the distillery output from a meaty 4m litres per annum to just 1m, thus putting emphasis on quality over quantity. The results of this were staggering as one year later in 2018 GlenAllachie released its first range of single malts and then just three years later in 2021 picked up the World’s best single malt award. Renowned for it’s rich sherry notes and velvety smooth mouth feel, GlenAllachie drams simply never fail to deliver. The range is both extensive and impressive and should it be something peated that is more to your taste, then that too is covered with their once a year, limited output Meikle Toir range. The influence of Billy Walker cannot be overstated. To many in the whisky world he is ‘the man’ and when you sample a GlenAllachie at one of the Scottish Gantry stores you will come to realise why so many enthusiasts think this way.

Today we celebrate the life of Robert Burns. The son of an Ayrshire farmer, he died at the very young age of 37. His legacy rests in the richness and genius of both his poems and songs. They are repeated world over and as we today reflect on the meaning of his poetry what better way to do so than with a dram in hand, be it an Annandale ‘Man O’ Words’  or a Robert Burns from Arran Distillery or a Lochlea from the farm on which Burns spent time as a boy. He is without question one of our greatest sons so honour his name as you raise your glass.... Slainte Mthath from The Scottish Gantry team
