Very saddened to hear that we lost an incredible figure in the whisky world and a very dear friend. After an email and phone relationship over the years we went to visit Diego for the first time in 2016 and he hosted us with incredible hospitality and generosity. The wild rumors about his vast collection and extensive knowledge were watered down.
Diego was always eager to share his knowledge and advice as well as time and his whiskies with his friends. We were lucky enough to get a sneak peak at the new display room for his favorite bottles (and shared some of his open ones) and it was truly a special and humbling experience.
Our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Rest in peace Diego.
