We are luck enough to have two brilliant manufacturing partners in our portfolio and it is no coincidence that they are produce whisky too. But this is your granddad's whisky, this is Finnish RYE whisky.

With the genesis born in a sauna by five friends bullsh*tting and drinking American rye one night, this idea to create a rye whisky from 100% malted Finnish rye. Packed with flavour like no other rye you've had, they've changed the course of what rye whisky can be.

It's Single Malt Rye...it's not a true category but it should. And you'll have these guys to thank when there is. and

So enjoy this thoughtful, sauna moment, contemplate what's in your glass. And for those looking to explore the boundaries these Finnish dreamers pushed, you won't be disappointed.

It's World Whisky Day and with 9 months under it's built, 'The Hearach' has been steadily being acknowledge as an outstanding dram. So here is a throw back, the video created for the historic release of the 'The Hearach' on September 27th, 2023.

Punching above it's weight for a relatively young whisky, a NAS single malt consisting of marriage of 5-8 year old liquid all, 'The Hearach' is already amassing a collection of awards for this inaugural release.

Which is no surprise as the thought behind this dram, the cask selections and craftsmanship at the Isle of Harris Distillery is a true testament to the legacy of all who work there in building a tomorrow for all of the Hearachs and the generations to come.

So if you haven't already, do yourself a favour a seek a bottle of this beauty and taste what the passion of a community can produce.

We featured ‘The Hearach’ at this year’s Whisky and Words Fundraiser. It wad a great crowd with lots of interest and conversations about what makes ‘The Hearach’ special and what the mission of The Isle of Harris is.

This gent is the legendary whisky writer, Charles MacLean. His efforts in supporting the whisky trade and charities have been so prolific that in 2021 he was honoured with becoming a Member of the Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, or MBE.

With all that writing, you can only imagine the quantity and quality of drams this man has had the privilege to enjoy!

So with that, here's what Mr. MacLean had to say about 'The Hearach' Single Malt from Isle of Harris:

"I can’t tell you how impressed I am...the flavour profile is truly unique. I have never tasted a whisky like it, and have rarely been so impressed by a first release.

What's more, it really does seem to embody the island of its birth - sea-spray, kelp and smouldering peat smoke; elemental, but also gentle, faintly floral and with a texture as soft as a Gaelic song - very more-ish!

Layers of complexity, a fine balance of flavours, and distinctive character. I raise what little remains in my glass to The Hearach’s success."

With such an experienced palate behind those words, we'll drink to that!

These sherry butts are used in the making of The Hearach. In fact, The Hearach uses both Oloroso and Fino sherry casks for maturing the whisky stock. When ready, the stock is married with whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks from Heaven Hill and Buffalo Trace for an 14+ weeks.

Cask selection plays a massive role in the production of this historic scotch from the Isle of Harris.

The First Release of the Hearach was made in 8 batches. Using the same casks, each batch has a slightly different makeup and maturation length yielding subtle variations.
