Happy International Tequila day!! You might be asking yourselves what does a whiskey merchant have anything to do with tequila?

While we aren’t planning on releasing any tequila of our own, we do use casks that have previously held Tequila in them to mature some of our whiskeys.

Like most things whiskey, time will tell when we will release this beauty. In the meantime let’s raise a glass to all the tequila lovers around the world 🌎 Sláinte 🥃

Happy ‘World Rum Day’

Here at W.D. O’Connell we haven’t released any rums ( yet 👀 ), but Rum casks play an integral part in our maturation process for a number of our prestigious whiskeys. Just look at our 20 yr old Family reserve, From Clare to here ( Vol 2 coming soon ) , and some of our Bill Phill Peated single casks to name but a few!

Yesterday MEP Grace O’Sullivan , the Green Party( ) Stopped by the workhouse for a tour of our site. We brought her up to speed on our current green initiatives, company values and long term plans for an eco friendly community driven workhouse.

We were surprised to learn that her great grandfather set up M O’Sullivan on high street in Waterford where they bottled Guinness and set drinks like pineapple punch and lemon soda!

Grace assured us she would be pushing hard at European level to encourage the department of Agri to make changes to product specification to help to promote 100% Irish grain produced whiskeys. Give her some support on your ballot paper.
