Located on a gentle hilltop in the heart of Valpolicella, Marchesi Fumanelli’s Squarano Estate is one of the region’s most historic and — if we may say so, gorgeous — family-owned wineries.

Spanning 31 hectares / 78 acres, the sustainably farmed vineyards benefit from remarkable terroir. The slight elevation and cooling influence from nearby Lake Garda produce grapes with an excellent balance of acidity, tannin, and fruit complexity.

These qualities are on full display in Fumanelli’s Squarano Valpolicella DOC and all its handcrafted wines.

Sarah Jessica Parker puts her signature style into every bottle of Invivo X, SJP.

Beyond naming the wine and designing the labels, she works alongside Wines co-founders Tim Lightbourne and Rob Cameron to taste and blend each new vintage. Rob explains, “This wine is 100% Sarah Jessica Parker. So other than selecting the base wine, I take a back seat and let her create the blends.”

As you’ll discover on first sip, Sarah Jessica’s taste is (as always!) impeccable.

Saskia Prüm is the first woman in her family’s 800-year history to own and lead the S.A. Prüm winery. In an interview with the regional VDP, she shares her inherited passion for winemaking and what she enjoys about her profession:

“The desire to become a winemaker grew naturally during my high school graduation year. Today I see winemaking as one of the most versatile professions there is. One can experience the seasons intimately and spends a lot of time in nature. You become ‘grounded.’ On the other hand, one has a lot to do with people and gets to know other cultures while traveling the world.”

Tomorrow is the Ides of March — and Planeta Winery’s Mamertino red was made for the occasion.

In Roman times, Mamertino produced one of Sicily’s most celebrated red wines, which Julius Caesar would order for feasts. Some say it was his favorite wine of all.

Inspired to recreate this noble red, the Planeta family revived a small, 7.7-hectare / 19-acre vineyard, not far from the sea. Aged for 12 months in barrel, the wine blends nero d’avola and nocera, an ancient grape variety used in Caesar’s preferred wine.

It’s a red fit for an emperor — especially if paired with firm cheeses, spring lamb, or pot baked grouper.

Bodegas CARO was born of the alliance between two renowned wine families, Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite and Nicolás Catena. Today, the estate is led by two of the most dynamic women in wine — Laura Catena (daughter of Nicolás) and Saskia de Rothschild (daughter of Baron Eric de Rothschild).

Together, they’re leading Bodegas CARO to new heights — literally. Their newly planted Finca Désiré vineyard sits at a staggering 1,175-1,700 meters / 3,855-5,577 feet above sea level. “It’s the perfect terroir for an Argentine Grand Cru,” Saskia says.

Travaglini Gattinara has made exceptional nebbiolo wines for over 60 years. Today, the estate is led by fourth-generation proprietor Cinzia Travaglini and her husband, chief winemaker Massimo Collauto.

In 2019, their talented daughters, Alessia and Carolina, joined the business. Having inherited their family’s passion for winemaking, they’re poised to lead the estate into the future. And what good hands it is in.

Resting under a blanket of snow, Gran Clos’ dramatic, terraced vineyards prepare for spring. Buds grow, nutrients stockpile, and roots mature in Priorat’s unique llicorella soils, leading to a fruitful growing season. 🌱

The Lunelli family proudly produce elegant, terroir-driven wines at Tenuta Margon, their historic estate in Trentino, Italy.

Located in the hills surrounding Trento, their sustainably farmed vineyards yield grapes with bright acidity and incredible aromatic complexity. The estate itself is a magnificent, 16th-century villa and the family’s ancestral home. Today, it serves as a hospitality center for entertaining guests.

These fine Crémant de Limoux Brut wines from Domaines Paul Mas make the perfect couple for Valentine’s Day.

Crafted using the traditional method, they’re produced at the Château de Martinolles estate in Limoux — aka, the birthplace of sparkling wine in France.

The blanc has intense notes of honey, acacia, and citrus fruits, while the rosé delivers delicate honeysuckle, peach, and grapefruit. Each is an excellent aperitif and will pair deliciously with a romantic dinner. Cheers!

An exquisite expression of its Cornas terroir, this remarkable syrah hails from a two-acre parcel of 80-plus-year-old vines that’s been certified organic by Ecocert. Aged for 22 months in French oak barrels, unfiltered, and vegan, it offers ripe black fruit, black pepper notes, and supple, well-integrated tannins.

One of the world’s rarest white wines, Vougeot Premier Cru Blanc “Les Cras” is also the perfect winter white.

Crafted by Domaine Bertagna, it’s sourced from rocky limestone vineyards just north of Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru. Aged 12 to 15 months in barrel before release, it’s well-balanced and rounded, with concentrated fruit, honey, and buttered notes. An excellent match for cheeses, roasted chicken, lobster bisque, and more.

Tucked away in their naturally carved, 200+ million-year-old caves, this exquisite, single-vineyard Sancerre enjoys extended aging in new Allier oak barrels and in bottle. Though always lovely upon release, it remains vivacious even after 10+ years. There’s incredible tension between the acidity, texture, and flavors — truly a rarity.

A golden view …

Since 1996, the Trimbach family have been cultivating Grand Cru Mandelberg in Mittelwihr, which is situated on an almond tree slope. This south/southeast hill is composed of brown limestone-marl soils and is an early ripening terroir. The vineyard has an altitude of 210 to 230 meters / 690 to 755 feet, with the age of the vines averaging 45+ years. The wines from the Mandelberg Grand Cru tend to be highly finessed, with notes of herbal tea and vibrant citrus over a mineral backdrop.

There is no other wine region in the world like Argentina’s Pedernal Valley. And it’s in this unique corner of the world that Pyros Wines crafts such superb, naturally different wines.

The region is quite remote and remains isolated from most vineyard pests. Indeed, viticulture only began to develop here in the 1990s and today there are a mere 809 hectares / 2,000 acres planted to vine. To protect this pristine environment, the town of Pedernal and its surrounding area were designated as a nature preserve in 2000.

The Pedernal Valley region lies in a mountainous valley in the foothills of the Andes in San Juan at altitudes ranging from 1,250 to 1,494 meters / 4,100 to 4,900 feet. The calcareous soils here are unique to Argentina — only 7% of the Earth’s surface is covered in this soil type, 50% of which is found in Europe.

Their Limestone Hill Malbec is made with the estate’s best grapes from the Limestone Hill plot, located at 1,400 meters / 4,593 feet above sea level. The plot’s colluvial soil is composed only of calcareous rocks of prehistoric origin (480 million years old) and fine materials including sand, silt, and clay. An incredible expression of some incredible terroir.

In Pauillac, the local landscape is almost white in color, due to the light-hued pebbles that cover the gravelly soil. It’s these different layers of soil that contribute to the complexity of the wine, giving Les Legendes Pauillac its signature, elegant characteristics.

The Les Légendes grape growers believe that the key to creating sensational Saint Émilion wine lives underground. The limestone-rich soil on the Right Bank is ideal for growing the Merlot grape. It’s secrets like these that produce the voluptuous wines that Saint Émilion is famed for.

The Medoc peninsula takes its name from the latin ‘In medio Aquae’, meaning in the middle of the waters. It’s this unique situation between Gironde Estuary and the Atlantic that ensures the slow ripening of the cabernet sauvignon, the king of grapes, which gives Les Légendes Médoc its extraordinary taste.

For over 150 years, our master winemakers have been crafting the finest Bordeaux wines. Generations of local knowledge have taught our grape growers exactly how to get Les Légendes Bordeaux Blanc so incredibly crisp and aromatic. Harvesting the grapes before sunrise keeps the grapes cold and preserves their delicate aromas, producing wine that’s bursting with flavor from the moment it’s opened.

Meet Eden, a Comtois horse and the newest member of the Domaines Paul Mas family. This seven-year-old beauty is part of an old breed of French draft horses, trained for agricultural work. Many of the estate vineyards are managed organically and Jean-Claude Mas is always looking for ways to minimize intervention. Having manually ploughed vineyards many years ago, the memory of this work flooded back when he met Eden, and the two hit it off immediately! Nowadays, Jean-Claude is often found trailing behind her, as Eden strolls through the vineyard rows. #CoteMas
