A new report has found that an Israeli military helicopter opened fire on Palestinian fighters but wounded Israelis participating in a festival during the October 7 attack by Hamas' Qassam Brigades and other armed groups against Israel.

According to the Haaretz newspaper, an Israeli security assessment was based on an investigation by police with Hamas fighters who were arrested on October 7.

Haaretz said that according to the evaluation, the Palestinian fighters had no prior information about the festival, which was held close to Kibbutz Re'im, near the border with Gaza.

Israel's Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper also published a report on Israeli Air Force helicopters intervening in the attack carried out by Hamas and other Palestinian groups from Gaza on October 7.

The newspaper reported that the Israeli forces “found it difficult to identify Hamas" fighters, adding that helicopter pilots “used artillery” against civilians at the festival.

President Zelensky has been lamenting the fact that, because of the war between Israel and Hamas, Ukraine now has to share military aid from the West. Speaking to reporters in Kiev on Thursday, Zelensky claimed that ‘our deliveries have decreased’ as competition increases for 155mm shells in particular.

‘It’s not like the US said: we don’t give Ukraine any. No. It’s just that everyone is fighting for [stockpiles] themselves,’ he clarified.

This drop-off in supply comes as the Pentagon has ramped up its arms deliveries to Israel, with Washington reportedly having increased supply to the country without publicly announcing the move.

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has also recently warned Kiev that member states can no longer provide weapons from their ever-dwindling stockpiles, adding that Europe would now have to switch to sending domestically produced munitions instead, leading to an even bigger shortfall.
