These whatsapp groups advertising furniture and appliances are fake and is connected to a syndicate of scammers and Fraudsters. 'Second Glance' is also sxam syndicate group.

Many have come forward falling victim to making payments to these individuals with it all being a hoax in the end. They trade with various Bank Accounts, Grindrod, FNB and Capitec and will even bulley victims to make Cash send payments. This is all untraceable.

They do not reside in the areas they portray, nor does the identities and ID's they freely share with people match up to the persons in conversation. Their numbers often change and they alternate between accounts to get victims to comfortably pay. They offer payment terms which are just a way to push payments, once a person has made a payment and they get upset because they are being ignored, these suspects then blocks the victim from all fronts.

We are calling on everyone to avoid these groups at all costs, they keep on creating new groups woth new contacts and new identities where we believe we are talking to innocent ladies; As SAPS Douglasdale explained, this could be gang-operated by Foreigners.

A whatsapp group has been established where conversations about victims are taking place and it is alarming to see how many people are coming forward. Unfortunately there is no end in sight to this and the courts act lightly, the best we can do is inform people who are being added to these groups and educate the public.

Do not be fooled by the ID's they send you. SAPS explained that identity theft is at play. Noting on the one suspects page, the friends list includge sceptical gangster-style followers. These suspects do not reside where they say they do! They also insist that you send you personal info and ID to them - DON'T
