The Acres to Ales program was created by Limagrain Cereal Seeds (LCS) to support local supply chains that use premium LCS malting barley varieties. It all starts at LCS with superior barley genetics and quality-assured certified seed. Then we brew local partnerships with farmers, maltsters and brewers to take the seeds from grain to glass, plant to pint, Acres to Ales. Brewers

craft beers with LCS barley that has traveled as little as five miles from local farms to their mash tuns.

"The facility currently produces 14 different malt styles, with assorted colors and flavors, depending on source grains and cooking temps. All of the variations stem from just two base barleys, LCS Odyssey and LCS Genie, but other grains such as rye and wheat can be malted too."

“Over the last couple of decades, every farmer I asked about growing brewing-quality barley for me said it couldn’t be done around here,” said John Dean. “Lance is a fifth generation Kansas farmer who has taken on the challenge of growing brewing-quality barley in Kansas. He chose two malting varieties from the Limagrain Cereal Seeds breeding station in Wichita, Kansas for this task.

Limagrain Cereal Seeds (LCS) and German barley breeding partner Breun nabbed the top six places in the Montana State University (MSU) 2020 Spring Barley Variety Trials statewide. LCS and Breun submitted six of the 25 total trial entries; all six came out winners.
