We all love a freebie, we get it. But if you're a multinational company and you fancy a couple of free cans because "it's good exposure", you probably came to the wrong place.

Small, LGBTQ+ owned businesses need support, and that means putting your money where your mouth is. If you can afford an Olympian on your float along Regents St, you can afford to pay for your own round. All tea, no shade.

We love supporting LGBTQ+ groups and charities, and do so regularly in addition to the 3 LGBTQ+ charities every single can donates to.

But if you're a giant brand who has changed their logo for a week and you fancy a freebie, think again.

Unlike *some* who launch a rainbow wristband or a gay sandwich for a month, we wear our rainbow with pride, not for effect.

Issues facing LGBTQ+ people in the UK don't just happen in June and we don't just need your support for a few weeks of the year. Bullying in schools, a lack of access to sexual and mental health services happen every single day - the challenges LGBTQ+ people don't have a "limited edition pride version".

So we will be wearing our rainbow year round, it's who we are and it's at the core of what makes us the original q***r beer for good.

And we need to be honest about the answer: yes. 🌈

Every single can makes you gay. You're not born with it, it's not something we've always been, we once drank a can with a rainbow on it and ✨POOF✨, there we were, in all our gaiety, revealed to the world.

So if you're worried our beer will make you gay, probably best to protect that fragile masculinity and stick with a stella.

✨ 20 cans could pay for materials for a day of workshops from Diversity Role Models

✨ 50 cans could provide a school with anti-bullying posters

✨ 60 cans helps the LGBT Foundation answer a call from an LGBTQ+ person with nowhere else to turn

✨ 750 cans could provide training and development for one new speaker for Terrence Higgins Trust Positive Voices – a community project where people living with HIV share their stories to raise awareness and stop stigma

We are incredibly proud to have supported the brilliant over the last few years, raising almost £7,000 for their incredible work supporting those living with HIV and tackling stigma.

World AIDS Day is quickly creeping and marks 40 years since the first case of HIV/AIDS in the UK, and the death of Terry Higgins, whose loved ones founded Terrence Higgins Trust in his name.

We hope drinking our beer does make you gay, because maybe then you'll start to understand just how important visibility, representation and the perspectives of those who "aren't like everyone else" truly are.

These are a selection of 100% genuine comments we've had since we started PROUD. And these are just the tip of the iceberg.

So, let us take this opportunity to tell you why we take the fact you're "p*ssed off" as a sign we're doing things right.

The two of us grew up conditioned to believe we were straight. Every story, every role model, every piece of clothing reinforced a message of "him and her", "boys and girls" "Mr and Mrs". We were so conditioned by this, we both assumed we were straight until we struggled with our own preconceptions and the expectations of those around us to realise that we had actually both been very, very gay from the day we were born.

And this is why our q***r beer matters.

Beer itself has just as many stereotypes wrapped up with it. "Lads" at the pub" and "men drink beer" are exactly the kind of assumptions we want to tackle and tear down, because it's not us who are "pushing" gay in your face, we're simply holding up a mirror and challenging stereotypes that we've all been made to accept our whole lives.

So if our beer makes you uncomfortable, so be it. Because championing diversity and representation, even if just one LGBTQ+ person feels seen because of it, makes it all worth while.

We need to be honest about something... We've had absolutely no idea what we're doing this whole time.

"How hard can it be?" was the basis for starting our q***r beer business, stating from the very start that our charities and community were at the very heart of everything we did.

We knew nothing about running a business, let alone a beer business, but with a passion and an excitement for what we could do if we just focused on our vision of a truly authentic q***r-owned business, we've now managed to sell almost 62,000 bottles of our fabulous LGBTQIPA.

Alongside sales and events, that's raised almost £20,000 for the charities we love, whose work literally changes lives for LGBTQ+ people.

So excuse us if you think we know what we're doing, we don't. We just have a little bottle of beer that tastes good and does good every single time you take a sip.

That's the power of our q***r beer for good.
