The single malt whiskies bottled by Alexander Murray need little introduction to our Scotch connoisseurs here at Mission. Just about every time we feature a new AM release it sells out as fast as it came in, and those of you who shop at Costco already know the amazing value of their Kirkland single malt releases.

Hence, when Alexander Murray reached out to us recently about the remaining inventory for a bespoke private label 12 year old, our ears perked right up. Here’s the scoop:

An American retailer commissioned the Scotston 12 year earlier this year, but were not able to deplete the inventory. There were still 600 bottles remaining in the Alexander Murray warehouse that needed a home, so we worked out a price for that inventory. Whereas that retailer was selling the Scotston 12 year for $40 a bottle, we’re offering it today for just $25.99.

What are the specs, you ask?

12 year old single malt whisky from an undisclosed Highland distillery. Fortunately, we know which distillery it came from and we’re thrilled as to its origins. Per our contract, we cannot reveal that name, but we can tell you two things: the distillery name starts with a “B” and it does have its own full-time brand on the market (which we carry at Mission). Compared to the cost of that distillery bottling, you’re saving $40 per bottle.

Named after the birthplace of Alexander Murray, the Scotston 12 year is the best deal on any single malt whisky we’ve both seen and tasted in 2024. It’s rich and inviting on the palate with rounded honey notes, creamy barley, a hint of citrus, and loads of vanilla on the finish. You could buy a case of this for holiday gifts and the recipients would believe you spent a lot more than $25.99. Trust us.

We’ve got 600 bottles and when it’s gone, that’s it. Do yourself a favor: order a bottle immediately and taste it ASAP. Once you realize how good of a deal this is, we can promise you’ll want multiples. Any guesses as to the distillery?

Joe Wagner’s Belle Glos label has been one of California’s most prestigious over the last decade, with a bottle almost as iconic as Maker’s Mark with its recognizable red wax seal. We almost never see deals for wines of this status and caliber here at Mission, but we’re living in strange times and it feels like anything can happen in the wine and spirits industry each day we show up to work. As you can imagine, we were shocked to procure this deal today: a single vineyard Belle Glos Pinot Noir from Eulenloch Vineyard in Napa for just $29.95. Check our website for more details.

Very limited allocations of Leopold Bros latest Three Chamber releases are live on the website! In some cases, just a handful of bottles. The Three Chamber Peach Liqueur has to be tasted to be believed. The Three Chamber Pear Brandy eau de vie is the first of its kind in well over 100 years. The Foeder Series rye whiskey features the old Three Chamber component yet (8 years old) and is bottled at 55% ABV. They will likely not last the weekend. IYKYK.

Everyone we’ve spoken to seems to agree: many cask-finished Bourbons are too gimmicky or marketing-focused, but NOT the new Angel’s Envy Triple Oak Bourbon.

With the standard Angel’s Envy as the base, the addition of Hungarian oak, Chinkapin oak, and French oak add sweetness, spice, and richness the likes of which we’ve yet to taste in many similarly-marketed Bourbons.

What makes this release different from the others? The flavor, pure and simple.

When the resurrection of Ardbeg was just getting started (and the committee bottlings were actually *only* for committee members), it was the Ardbeg 17 year single malt that launched the reputation of the revamped Islay distillery.

Considered legendary by all who remember it, the classic flavors of salt, smoke, peat, brine, and vanilla were in complete harmony, rising to the level of iconic status at 17 years of age. It was a symphony of Islay complexity, whisky fans went absolutely crazy for it, and the response launched a new era of single malt connoisseurship around the world.

Back then, few drinkers knew the story of Ardbeg. Absolutely no one had heard of Dr. Bill Lumsden. Yet, today, Ardbeg is one of the most beloved and famous single malt whiskies in the world and Lumsden just finished helping Beyonce blend her new American whiskey release.

Times have certainly changed, but—when fortune smiles upon us—sometimes it repeats itself.

The release of Ardbeg’s latest committee bottling is a moment many of us have been waiting decades for. Dr. Bill Lumsden spent an incredible amount of time reconstructing the flavors of the original Ardbeg 17 year (down to the exact ABV%) and the result is finally here.

While supplies last, the limited edition Ardbeg 17 year old single malt is finally available again, bringing with it all the complexity of the original. For those who missed out the first time around, now is your chance.

Beam's resurrection of A. Overholt rye whiskey is finally here! Once the pride and joy of Pennsylvania, Overholt has been continually produced in America since 1810. Ulysses S. Grant proudly drank it, as did JFK. When Beam took over the brand, it became a Kentucky-style rye whiskey with plenty of corn in the mash bill, but with this new iteration Beam has taken the brand back to its original recipe: 80% rye and 20% malted barley. It's 4 years old and priced right!

While additive-free Tequila is a relatively new interest Americans, it’s nothing new for El Tesoro Distillery and its iconic master distiller Carlos Camarena, as the family’s original brand El Tapatìo has been one of Mexico’s long-standing additive-free brands for almost a century. The El Tesoro premium label is definitely the jewel in its crown and getting a private single barrel is the highest honor we can hope for.

As lovers of additive-free Tequila ourselves, nothing is more exciting from our perspective than traveling down to La Alteña distillery and picking out a barrel with Carlos himself. Our most recent expedition yielded this incredible Reposado selection, loaded with butterscotch and baking spices. Both of those flavor profiles are the result of nothing but pure agave, water, and time in an ex-Bourbon barrel, which makes their character even more thrilling.

Yes, indeed, that is Emma Watson—star of Harry Potter and other films—in the above photo, but Renais Gin is not just another celebrity throwaway. It’s the pride and joy of the entire Watson family, including her brother Oliver and her father Chris.

While fans all over the world are aware of Emma’s success, few know that her father Chris planted Chardonnay vines in Chablis back in the 1990s and that Emma’s family has been making Burgundy for over thirty years. Fewer are aware that Emma and her brother Oliver spent years in the Chablis vineyards long before she was ever cast as Hermione Granger.

And to be very clear, the focal point of the Watson family’s new Renais Gin is not Harry Potter. It’s Chablis.

If you’re a lover of both Burgundy and gin (like we are at Mission), you’re going to want to try this gin immediately, mostly because the Watsons used actual pressed Grand Cru Chablis Chardonnay grapes as one of the botanicals in the gin, along with actual Kimmeridgian stones!! Yes, there are actual vineyard rocks used in the production of this gin, so as to effectively capture the essence of real Chablis.

In addition to Chablis grapes and Chablis limestone, the Watsons add juniper, angelica root, linden flowers, and acacia honey to craft an entirely new expression of gin, and one that appeals directly to lovers of Burgundy, in particular. The aromas are fresh and lively, the texture rounded and supple, the flavors vinous and vibrant.

Is this the first gin with real terroir and minerality? Perhaps! What’s more important is that it’s absolutely delicious and absolutely not some designer celebrity label. While Emma is a part of the marketing (of course), she’s not the face of the brand. The Watson family’s history of winemaking in Chablis goes back thirty years, which is where the story of Renais gin begins.

We think it’s the most exciting new gin we’ve tasted in years and one of the most interesting, thought-provoking products we’ve added to our inventory in 2024 thus far.

Campbeltown’s Glen Scotia releases have become nearly as coveted as those from Springbank and Kilkerran. The latest allocated release—the 12 year old Mermaid—the first in a five part series offers an unpeated single malt finished in one of the rarest Sherry casks possible: Palo Cortado. 

This limited release captivates with a nutty, salty, savory profile that complements the Sherry in a very delicious way by rounding off with notes of candied tropical fruits and a hint of that oily Campbeltown funk we know and love.
