Pot Still vs Single Malt Whiskey - what’s the difference? 🍀 First off, both they’re both made entirely of barley. However, pot still can only be 30% malted barley, which gives it more savory, rich, cereal characteristics, as the fermentation doesn’t go as easily for the yeast. Single malt is made of entirely malted barley, which gives it cleaner, fruity, herbal notes. Which type of whiskey do you prefer? #GarysWine #whiskey #whiskeylover #stpatricksday | Redbreast Whiskey

Why doesn’t your Champagne bottle have a year on it? 🍾 Most Champagnes are actually non-vintage, which means they’re a blend of wines from different years. Why do this? As Champagne is a cool climate for grape growing, some vintages turn out more tart, while some are more fully ripe. Therefore, a lesser vintage may be blended with a more powerful vintage in order to maintain consistency in the style. #GarysWine #champagne #winelover
Why are Italian wines named after the area, not the grape variety? Today, we’re talking more geography, less wine (kidding). Comparable to the US states, Italy is divided into 20 regions, or regioni. Each region contains areas where grapes are grown, and these areas are used in the names of Italian wines. Two examples: the Nobile di Montepulciano comes from the town Montepulciano in Tuscany, which is 1 of the 20 regions of Italy. The grape used is Sangiovese. We also have the Piemonte Rosso, or “red from Piedmont,” which is made from a blend of grapes. Remember this the next time you’re Italian wine shopping! #GarysWine #italianwine #wineeducation | Montalbera Terra del Ruchè
Cabernet Sauvignon vs Malbec - what’s the difference? 🍷 Although Malbec is from a similar part of France, the grape varieties have many differences.
