Latest Update‼️

Former Chief of Protocol, Ms. Nora Finda Bundoo, has filed a law suit against the Assets Recovery Team.

The Writ of Prohibition filed by Nora Finda Bundoo highlights the need for transparency and accountability in the fight against corruption. Madam Bundo legal action also seeks the need for thorough investigation of corruption allegations regardless of political affiliations of individuals involved.

On Wednesday, March 27, the Assets Recovery Team carried out a massive seizure of vehicles believed to be owned by two former officials of the Weah led government. The team impounded a Toyota Land Cruiser owned by former Inspector General of the Liberia National Police Patrick Sudue and more than twenty (20) transport taxis with inscription "Gracious Ride” reportedly owned by Madam Nora Finda Bundo, former Chief of protocol to former President George Weah.

The Assets Recovery Team headed by Cllr. Edwin Kla Martin was established following the issuance of Executive order #126 by president Boakai. It is charged with the responsibilities to identify and recover government assets wrongfully in the possession of current and past officials of government.

However, the Coalition for Democratic Change through its Secretary General Jefferson Tamba Koijee has since challenged the Taskforce and vowed not to saccum to any pressure.
Meanwhile, the court has ordered the release of all vehicles that were seized by the Assets Recovery Team pending the outcome of the conference scheduled between the petitioner and respondent on April 1, 2024.

The report was presented by the Special Investigative Team (SIT), which conducted a thorough investigation into the incident. The investigative team included representatives from the Liberian National Police (LNP), the Armed Forces of Liberia and the Executive Protection Service.

The Report recommended that the individual be charged in violation of sections 14.22 (Offensive Touching) and 14.23 (Reckless Endangerment of another Person) of the Penal Law of Liberia.

Moreover, the Report indicated that the failure of the EPS Agents to ensure proper security to avoid such invasion is a violation of the EPS Duty Manual and the Standard Operating Procedure governing the service.

The Report further recommended administrative actions against the Agents assigned and the continuation of in-service training to ensure enhanced operational capacity and readiness to always provide advance security service.

The Director of the EPS, Mr. Sam Gaye, has taken full responsibility of the situation and promised elevated measures to avoid any future security breach as well as the implementation of the recommendations of the Report.

Press Statement for immediate release.

Monrovia - March 18, 2024: Today we want to bring to your attention a matter of utmost concern regarding the recent contract awarded by the Ministry of Public Works in the sum of Twenty-One Million United States Dollars (US$21 Million). While we fully support the much-needed rehabilitation and construction of roads across the country, it is imperative that these projects are executed in full compliance with the laws of Liberia.

The recent actions of the Public Works Ministry have an odor of venality and nefariousness since in fact it violates Article 34(d) and subsection III which states that "no loan shall be raised or guaranteed without the authority of legislative enactment".

Additionally, the infringement of the Amended and Restated Public Procurement and Concession Act of 2005 further demonstrates a lack of adherence to the rule of law. It is fundamental that any government institution issuing contracts must ensure that funding is available before awarding such contracts, as outlined in the Public Financial Management (PFM) and the PPCC Act which also place emphases on international and national open competitive bidding processes for contract ceiling for procurement of goods, services and works,

In the case of contracts for the procurement of goods, US$500,000. In the case of contracts for the procurement of services, US$200,000. In the case of contracts for the procurement of works, US$1,000,000.

The absence of an approved budget, except for the Two Million United States Dollars (US$2,000,000) allotted for Policy Priorities (100-Day Deliverables) out of the approved Forty-One Million United Starts Dollars (US$41,000,000) requested in February, raises questions about the source of funding for these contracts awarded by the Ministry of Public Works.

In a few days, we will seek the indulgence of the Liberian Senate to summon the Ministers of Public Works, Finance, Justice, and the Executive Director of PPCC to prov....

President Boakai Issues Executive Order #127 Exempting LWSC From Customs Duties

March 18, 2024

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has issued an Executive Order to exempt the Liberia Water & Sewer Corporation (LWSC) from paying customs duties on certain items. This is to ensure that clean and safe drinking water remain affordable and accessible to the public.

The items exempted from customs duties include diesel fuel for operations and production, rotatable and consumable spares for operations, low-lift, and high-lift pumps for use at the water treatment plants, water treatment chemicals and chlorinators, and laboratory apparatus for water treatment facilities at White Plains Water Treatment Plant and Outstations.

The Executive Order, numbered #127, was issued on Thursday, March 14, 2024. It also exempts heavy-duty equipment, such as water and sewer trucks, asphalt cutters, jackhammers, leak detectors, valves (air relief, surge, and line), presumed sewer cleaners, high-pressure assorted pipes and fittings, flow and water meters, heavy and light-duty vehicles, and generators, from customs duty payment.

This Executive Order takes over from the previous Executive Order ( #109) that has since expired which served a similar purpose. It emphasizes the need for continuous provision and distribution of clean and safe drinking water and the maintenance of an effective sewer system to prevent potential disease outbreaks and other communicable diseases.

The order aims to maintain tariffs at an affordable cost for citizens, as sanitation is a crucial component of the Government’s ARREST Agenda and commitment to sustaining an adequate water supply and controlling the overflow of sewage in the streets of Monrovia and other parts of the Country.

Prof.Lester Z Tenny, resignation letter to CDC party chair.

Hon. Janga Kowo
Acting Chairman
Congress for Democratic Change (CDC)
Congo Town
Liberia
March 18, 2024

RE:// LETTER OF RESIGNATION
Hon. Chairman:
Permit me to congratulate you on your preferment as acting chairman of the once powerful people’s party, the CDC.
I bring to your attention my thoughtful intent to officially resign as a member of the party. This resignation is against the background that I find it completely disingenuous to cohabit and coexist in an organization where thieves, national resources looters and murderers of our people exist. When I joined the CDC in 2008, my impression was that it was a national movement for the people with a focus to facilitate the national agenda to transform the lives of our people and country. Neither did I realize those objectives were only on the manuscript of the party’s platform but was never intended to be implemented. We all hailed George Weah at the time as being a patriot due to his performance on the field of play in football.
None of us thought that the very patriot we once knew on the football pitch would turn out to be a national embarrassment and commodities thief of our people. Many of our people today live in penury and unacceptable way of lives because of the selfish intent of Weah and his cronies to imprison them under the canopy of a popular people’s movement. Weah like his cohorts are fraud and only come to harvest on the blood and sweat of our people. This behavior cannot continue to triumph in this country and therefore to share the same breathing space with such a classic con artist is troubling to my soul.
Therefore, I write to officially leave the party as I embark on another mission to ensure that never again this bigot of a man and his cronies rise to power in this country.
Thanks

Prof. Lester Zomatic Tenny, PhD.

Breaking!
A shocking incident unfolded in B**g County on Sunday, March 17, 2024, as a 10-year-old girl gave birth, making her one of the youngest mothers ever recorded in the world.

According to information the unnamed Kpelleh girl arrived at Goodwill hospital in a state of distress, with tears streaming down her face and experiencing immense pain from the contractions.

The young girl, whose identity remains undisclosed for her protection, underwent a cesarean section to deliver her baby, who weighed a healthy 5 pounds.

Medical experts have noted that a C-section delivery for such a young mother is not uncommon, considering the potential risks and complications associated with a natural birth at such a tender age.

This incident has also drawn attention to the prevalence of child marriage and sexual abuse, highlighting the urgent need for stricter laws and enforcement to protect vul...

Update!

The immediate Chair emeritus of the Congress for Democratic Change by extension Coalition for Democratic Change now turned civil rights activist, Mulbah K. Morlu has launched his pro-democracy group dubbed, "STAND" to fight for social justice and impunity.

Speaking a few minutes after he received the National Chair position from a mixed up civil and social groups, Mr. Morlu clarified that STAND owes no loyalty to any political party, not even the CDC or the Unity Party.

He stressed that the movement has not come to sympathize with 'Business as Usual,' but rather to disrupt the status quo by standing up for the vulnerable, the needy, and the voiceless.

Mr. Morlu added that the decline in public trust during the Weah-led government, coupled with growing domestic skepticism regarding public policy decision-making under the Boakai administration, highlights the urgent need for civil society intervention.

The arrowhead of the movement called upon the Liberian Senate to act in the best interest of the nation by aligning with the House of Representatives in establishing a War and Economic Crimes Court to prosecute senior perpetrators of egregious crimes.

Former Monrovia mayor, Mayor Jefferson Koijee writes

President George Weah asked for twenty five EPS personnel but if you cannot provide him that or anything that falls short of that number, we can assure you we will protect him ourselves.

Remember also now, the day we come to the conclusion of protecting President Weah, you can rest assured you won’t go to work.

We will call for a national protection day for President Weah and on that day Mr. Boakai you will work from home and not the Executive Mansion.

Don’t push us, don’t push us for we have what it takes to make you uncomfortable; go and do the people’s job, we won’t pretend to you, we don’t seek popularity we are action oriented characters, we will ask the citizens to join us in protecting President WEAH, any attempt.

And the day we come to protect President WEAH, we won’t leave again, we will protect him till the day we feel comfortable that he’s well protected.
