is made right here in by the top awamori seller Shinzato Shuzo (新里酒造　株式会社)

Shinzato Shuzo Brewery was founded in 1846 and is the oldest brewery in Okinawa that still exists.

At that time, the Ryukyu royal government allowed only 30 people to make the beverage. This prized awamori, born right here in Okinawa, was given as gifts to both China and mainland Japan.

Protected by its 7th generation owner, this brewery is still practicing traditional techniques inherited from 170 years ago.

新里酒造の創業は、弘化三年（１８４６年） 現存する沖縄の酒造所としては、もっとも古い酒造所と云われています。

当時、琉球王府は泡盛造りを首里の三箇（崎山、赤田、烏掘）に住む30人（後に40人になる)のみに許し、ここで生まれた泡盛は、遠く中国や日本への献上品として珍重されていました。

新里酒造は、その一人として認められて以来、伝統の技と精神を受け継いで 170余年、現在七代目当主がこののれんを守っています。
