You don't need to have visited Antarctica to enter this competition! People from all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to share their view of Antarctica and submit their Antarctic art projects.
Art works can be submitted into one of two categories:
1) Senior Art (Ages 18 and above)
2) Junior Art (Ages below 18)

This month we're donating 50% of all Antarctic stuff sales to the Antarctic and Southern Ocean Coalition.

Why?

This is the last month of Antarctica's bicentenary: it's been 200 years since our bearded brothers from the UK/Russia first laid eyes on Antarctica in January 1820.

Since then, a lot has happened:

🐋 Humans killed almost all the seals and whales around the Southern Ocean, then decided that was a bad idea (they're now protected
⚓️ Expeditions spent entire winters stuck in sea ice;
📍 Humans made it to the South Pole
🌊 We realised that Antarctica plays a huge role in driving global ocean currents and climate
🇦🇶 In 1959 12 countries worked together to set up a global Treaty to take care of Antarctica set up over 70 scientific bases
In the 80s the Antarctic Treaty parties (which were growing in number) banned mining and declared Antarctica was a 'natural reserve for peace and science'.

Today, 54 states are part of the Antarctic Treaty.
There are more than 70 scientific bases across the continent, supporting scientists from more than 25 countries.

We've come a long way. Let's make the next 200 years even better than the last 😁🙌
