Castelmaure is a 102-year-old co-op based in rocky Corbières in France’s southwest. They make unfussed, guzzleable wine from well-farmed plots around the region. This is 60% Grenache, 40% Carignan, both hand-picked & carbonic macerated for a plush, jubey rouge best enjoyed slightly chilled with something salty & fatty. $26 well spent x

Nun wine is back!! Handcrafted by a convent of over 80 Cistercian nuns in Lazio (with almost no technology), this amber wine is a heavenly blend of local white varietals. Dried pears, sage, baked apple & hazelnuts, with hints of black tea, apricot, anise, honey & a penetrating mineral salinity. It’s hard to find skin-macerated white wines that pull off this level of balance, detail, & drinkability. Amen.

Moving away from all the smoke and haze that many Mezcals express in spades, Madre’s blend of sweet Espadin and piquant Cuishe is a perfect first taste for a new Mezcal drinker, as well as a great everyday sipper for the Mezcal aficionado. Sage and campfire, sweet turned earth. The finish is clean and lingering, underpinned by subtle smoke and florals. Each small-batch release is bottled in recycled glass and hand numbered. Go.

We seek out wine made with grapes only, brimming with naturally occurring microbiology rather than the 70+ additives floating around in conventional drops. It lives! It grows! It’s real! It’s from the earth!
The beverages we stock are not only textured expressions of terroir, but they also evince the personalities of their makers with stories and histories embalmed in each bottle. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
