Soft Serve Ice Cream has, like all great inventions, a conflicting origin story. 👀 Founder of Dairy Queen, J.F. McCullough and his son, Alex, supposedly came up with the idea in the 1930s. They experimented and came up with a product that could be stored at 18ºF rather than -5ºF, using less butter fat - around 5-6% instead of the usual 10%. Another legend says that Tom Carvel accidentally invented soft serve. The story says that on Memorial Day, Carvel got a flat tire and, in order to avoid his ice cream completely melting, he pulled a quick move and started selling the partially melted ice cream as a new type of dessert. Whichever story you prefer, I think we can all agree on being grateful for Soft Ice Cream! 🍦
