Monday motivation with the new Ice Wine finish that was kindly gifted to me. This blend of 5-15 year old bourbons from IN, KY, TN, and WY is 106.52 proof and gives notes of almond paste, fennel, and fresh strawberries on the nose followed by iced gingerbread cookies, cranberries, and black tea on the palate with a to***co, black cherry, and butterscotch finish. Have you ever had an ice wine finished whiskey?

This is 👏🏻. Maple candies on the nose followed by cherry and dark chocolate on the palate with a pomegranate and toasted oak finish. This 104 proof French Oak Harvest Rye that shared with me is a great start to the night. How are you kicking off the weekend?

Discovery Series 12 is a blend of 6-14 yr KY bourbon at 115.2 proof. The nose brings notes of strawberry gelato, orange marmalade, and cinnamon followed by plum, cherry cordials, and light mint on the palate with a toasted coconut, lime, and oak finish. Do you have a favorite Discovery Series release? Or do you prefer Fusion, Origins, or Collaboration Series releases?

has come out with a new 11 barrel blend of sweet mash rye finished in cognac, Sauternes, PX Sherry, and PX Brandy casks with a touch of French oak at 116.8 proof. The nose brings notes of mixed berry pie, dark chocolate, and allspice followed by figs, blackberry jam, and leather on the palate with a to***co, black cherry, and pepper finish.

Case Study: 03 Winter Cover Rye. This 3 barrel batch of KY rye at 106.25 proof gives notes of iced cinnamon rolls on the nose followed by blueberry muffins on the palate with a heavy dose of clove and allspice on the finish. I really enjoy how the rye spice on the finish cuts through those sweeter notes. Do you prefer the sweeter/fruit forward ryes or the punchy/spice heavy ryes?

small batch bourbon. The nose brings notes of orange creamsicles and cherry pop tarts followed by milk chocolate and lemon curd on the palate with an oatmeal raisin cookie finish. Honestly, I really enjoy this pour. Have you tried any expressions from Frank August yet?

with this Three Kings release. A blend of straight bourbon, rye, and wheat whiskeys aged 15 and 11 years sourced from KY and IN at 107 proof. The nose brings orange marmalade, sugar cookies, and coconut followed by a heavy dash of clove, black cherry ice cream, and pomegranate with an almond and leather finish. Undoubtedly another great release from the 15 Stars team!

Mornings at the pool mean bourbon in the afternoon. The newest batch 36 was provided for me to review and is a blend of 9 yr KY, 7.5, 8, & 10 yr IN, and 8 & 15 yr TN bourbons at 114.44 proof. The nose brings sweeter notes of white chocolate cranberry cookies and vanilla bean followed by raisin bread and leather on the palate with a stewed strawberry, nutmeg, and candied ginger finish. is a great day to crack the top on this new 3 barrel blend by consisting on 2 sour mash and 1 sweet mash barrels of a 75/21/4 KY bourbon mash bill. At 123.6 proof and 5+ years age stated, this one gives notes of brown butter chocolate chip cookies and nutmeg on the nose followed by raspberry jam, oak, and raisins on the palate with a dried cherries, leather, and fennel finish. In summary, I’m really enjoying this pick! Have you tried anything from Bending Branch before?

Let’s talk about the new collaboration. 8 and 9 yr IN rye whiskies finished in barrels was blended with 10, 11, and 14 yr KY bourbon and bottled at 110 proof. The nose brings maple candies, to***co, and vanilla bean followed by cinnamon raisin bread, grape jelly, and powdered sugar on the palate with a woody, black cherry, and nutmeg finish. I’m a big fan of this one, have you tried it yet?

Alright so y’all voted to hear the @blackwooddistillingco toasted bourbon review first so let’s dive in! 9-11 barrels of 7-9 year Kentucky bourbon, finished in three new toasted barrels from Kelvin (char 4 medium toasted heads, char 2 low toast, and medium toasted barrel) for about 3 months.
