This single-portion dish is quick to prepare, and can be eaten at any time of the day, from breakfast to a lunch or supper meal or as a snack.

This popular snack gets its name from a linguistic corruption of “rolled eggs,” as coined by speakers of Uglish, a version of English with strong influences from Luganda and other local languages. This delicacy closely resembles a sausage roll in shape, but it’s arguably more delicious and luckily you can find them from street vendors at any time of day in any busy town or city in Uganda.

This classic is becoming inevitably gentrified, with rolexes appearing on the menus of major restaurants across Kampala, the capital city. So much so that in 2016, The Rolex Initiative established annual Rolex Festival to celebrate Uganda's No.1 Tourism MeaI Identifier.

MAKE YOUR OWN ROLEX
1.) Beat an egg and then mix with sliced onions and green pepper.

2.) Fry the egg (both sides) and flatten it

3.) Place a hot chapati onto the egg and flip so the side with the egg is facing upward.

4.) Top with sliced tomato and thin slices of cabbage.

5.) Gently roll the Rolex from one end to the other while pressing down to make sure it is firm and serve hot.
