It is part of our mission to walk off the beaten wine path: this is a 100% Limnio, considered the most ancient grape variety ever known: it was first mentioned by Aristotle as the finest grape from Lemnos, one of Greece's larger islands.
2018 Garalis Limnio is the epitome of volcanic island wines: smoky, juicy, and vertical, with notes of iodine, tangerine peel, and bay leaves. A delightful, intriguing red!

Located in the middle of the Aegean Sea, Lemnos is constantly hit by strong winds like the famous Meltemi that bring cooling influences into the vineyards during the growing season, moderating the effects of Greece's hot sunshine and extending the ripening period. This allows the grapes to retain a bright acidity as they develop complex aromatics. Lemnos wines are often bright and fresh. Volcanic soils with low fertility help to stress the vines, lessening vigor and yields and resulting in small, concentrated grapes. Smoky, tangy, salty notes are the classic trademarks of the local wines.
