Cask's Single Malt Connoisseurs Club for February: Ruadh Mhor 14 Year.
On the nose smoked caramel, honeysuckle, driftwood, oak cabinet , dried cereal grains, burnt matches, fire logs and dry grass. The palate has smoked meat notes, oak, spice, sea salt, fruit snacks, raisins, mousse cake with some medicinal characteristics. The finish is dry with some mineral seashell notes.

For nearly 100 years, the Souza family have been growing sweet potatoes in California’s, San Joaquin Valley. They set out to discover new ways in which people could enjoy their crop and this is how Corbin Cash was born. This distillery grows, harvests, ferments and distills their own rye. Using 53-gallon white oak barrels from Missouri that are custom charred, this is 100% farm-to-bottle distillate. The rye graininess gives way to toasted oak, toffee, baking spices and orange peel.

Limited run agave spirits...
Onofre Ortiz produces this exceptional spirit in Bramaderos, Oaxaca using cultivated Mexicano. The agave was cooked in an oven pit, crushed by hand with a wooden mallet and fermented for 7 days with ambient yeast of his area. The fermented wash was then distilled on a 350 liter copper pot still and
bottled at still strength of 47.9% abv. 1133 bottles.

Alberto Ortiz creates this focused expression of Espadin in his village of Bramaderos, Oaxaca. The agave was cooked in an oven pit, crushed by hand with a wooden mallet and fermented for 7 days with ambient yeast of his area. The fermented wash was then distilled on a 350 liter copper pot still and bottled at still strength of 49% abv. 1333 bottles.

Some agave spirits to drink right now!
jabali, it's tropical fruit and citrus. The Jabali is much more earthy with a hint of pepper. It's richly textured and the smoke frames the wild flavors of this special agave. mezcal tepeztate, this plant can take 25-35 years to mature, and grows in difficult terrain, some mezcals made from this plant tend to be rare. However, they create a beautifully balanced spirit with earthy, savory, and herbal notes.

Two Bay Area whiskies to drink right now!

California Corn BnB Whiskey-California Corn takes a West Coast approach to this fine sipping whiskey. Made from 100% Yellow Dent corn grown in the Sacramento Valley, it spends a minimum of four years in ex-Home Base Bourbon casks for a mellow mouth feel and sweet notes of buttery, carmel popcorn.

Cask Exclusive Single Barrel-The whiskey was aged in American oak and finished in a sherry barrel they procured from Sonoma Portworks located in Petaluma.I find notes of creme brulee, mocha, caramel, buttery croissant and cherry on the nose. The palate is vanilla, sweet corn, bitter chocolate, maple, dry lumber, black pepper and roasted coffee.
