This small island nation in Oceania, officially known as the Republic of Nauru, statistically has the most overweight populous on the planet. Obesity afflicts for 97% of men and 93% of women in Nauru. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that prior to being called the Republic of Nauru, it was called "Pleasant Island.”
Not many people even know this country exists. It’s a tiny island in Micronesia, a subregion of Oceania. Nauru’s closest neighbour (300km away) is Banaba Island, which is part of another little-known island nation called the Republic of Kiribati.

A single nuclear weapon can destroy a city and kill most of its people. Several nuclear explosions over modern cities would kill tens of millions of people. Casualties from a major nuclear war between the US and Russia would reach hundreds of millions.
It takes around 10 seconds for the fireball from a nuclear explosion to reach its maximum size. A nuclear explosion releases vast amounts of energy in the form of blast, heat and radiation. An enormous shockwave reaches speeds of many hundreds of kilometres an hour. The blast kills people close to ground zero, and causes lung injuries, ear damage and internal bleeding further away. People sustain injuries from collapsing buildings and flying objects. Thermal radiation is so intense that almost everything close to ground zero is vaporized. The extreme heat causes severe burns and ignites fires over a large area, which coalesce into a giant firestorm. Even people in underground shelters face likely death due to a lack of oxygen and carbon monoxide poisoning.

The United States is the most powerful country in Asia, after self-imposed isolation and zero-COVID policies weighed heavily on China's ranking in the Lowy Institute's Asia Power Index.
China’s score declined by 2.1 points relative to 2021, the largest drop in this edition of the analysis.
The Asia Power Index - which has been released annually for the past five years - assesses 26 nations against 133 indicators, with groupings including military and economic capabilities, defense networks and diplomatic and cultural influences.
"On current trends, China is now less likely to pull ahead of its rival in comprehensive power by the end of the decade.
Even if it does in future decades, it appears highly unlikely China will ever be as dominant as the United States once was.
