There is a large fallen tree blocking the upcoming lane from Pietermaritzburg in the vicinity of Worlds View turn off on Old Howick Road.

Traffic department is on scene. Please drive with caution around here to allow safe traffic movement.

Spent the morning at Hilton Quarry interacting with residents. We will be out and about often. Come and chat🤝

For info, these tables are to do a couple of things:
* Sign DA membership to be a part of your ward branch.
* Assist with re registrations to vote if one is new to the area
* Discuss service delivery issues
* Put your name down to volunteer leading up to the upcoming local elections
* Offer a monthly debit order or once off donation to the party.

We are the only DA run municipality in KZN and we want to keep it that way! We can not let the work that has taken place be undone. All donations go toward outreach, branding, transporting activists, t-shirts, membership stationery and loads more.

*HILTON TREE CLEARING PLANNED OUTAGES*

Please see below dates and alternative dates for line clearing work taking place by Msunduzi Electricity.

If you need to clear trees/bushes from your properties that are touching infrastructure please assist by planning whilst the outages take place.

Each day will be:
08h00 to 16h00

*Leonards, Daisy, surrounds*
Planned: Monday 27 January
Alternative: Friday 31 January

*Cowan, surrounds*
Planned: Tuesday 28 January
Alternative: Monday 3 February

*Groenekloof, surrounds*
Planned: Wed 29 January
Alternative: Tue 04 February

This information was supplied to us by Msunduzi Overhead lines department. Official notices will be sent out.

We will try our best to advise of any changes to these schedules.

*HILTON "CENTRAL" ELECTRICITY SUPPLY*
22H19 - 21 January

I have noted the outage effecting the "central" area of Hilton. Cowan, Sundale, Hayfields, Park, Briar, Azalea, Groenekloof etc. I have alerted Msunduzi manager. Please report to get a ref number. There is a cable fault in Flamingo which seems to be giving trouble. Not confirmed but I suspect this may have tripped the sub that supplies the area.

I will advise once I have more information.

Msunduzi overhead lines teams today cleared bushes and tree branches in and around Wallard road and others. There is another outage planned for this Thursday. If you have the means please arrange to have your bushes and or trees cleared whilst this outage is happening especially the easy to reach one's.

I have just been informed that the have run into an issue on re energizing 😭 They are busy with it and have advised a further 2 hours. I hate to be the messenger of this news. I am so sorry. Out of our hands at this stage.

The team attending to maintenance has advised that restoration will continue at 19h00 as communicated. They turn on equipment and it then needs a few minutes to energize before they put the various loads onto the supply.

*HILTON - CROSSWAY TRANSFORMER MAINTENANCE*
17h45 17 January

I popped in to check on the teams attending to the maintenance at the Crossways Station. All on track. They have been doing various task re oil, gaskets, cleaning replacing etc.

Whilst the power was off they have also had the overhead line teams attending to trees touching infrastructure in parts of the Leonards area.

There is another outage scheduled for next week for the overhead lines clearing again. These date/s will be shares at soonest.

These are all efforts to prevent prolonged and more damaging faults in the future.

Power still scheduled to return at 19h00 this evening once energized and they have ensured all ready to turn folks back on.

The engagements with the teams are bearing results 🤞

Ward 6 War room is taking good shape. When various stakeholders come together lives can be improved.💪 A few topics today included teenage pregnancies in the ward, family units, kids without documents (birth certificates etc) the role of parents and their behavior, senior citizens and various government programs to roll out for the months to come 🤝

We are also working with department of health to get the Phila Mntwana center running to get more access to the surrounding community 🥳

And last but not least, the stunning St Anne's Diocesan College in Hilton. 309 distinctions in total 💙 What a proud mome...
