Maison Martin Margiela SS 1999 Artisanal pocket wallet

Maison Martin Margiela has been notoriously labelled as an “anti-fashion” brand ever since his inception with his first collection debut in 1989.

Martin’s designs are considered to be distinctly conceptual and unconventional. A substantial part to his resume is experimenting with recycling and deconstructed elements.

The "0 - Artisanal Line” was the foundation of the “rebuild” method. He applied this method to this design as he re-purposed denim into a wallet pouch. He observed the “rules of fashion,” and simultaneously followed, and dismantled them, yet did so with restraint.
