What a week it’s been… and it’s only Wednesday 🫠

It’s time for some quality Heaven Hill goodness in the form of this extremely hard to find value brand that is now only available in Kentucky. Or maybe it’s discontinued now.

Fanboys and fangirls alike clamor over this bottle and pay easily 5x over retail for this green labeled goddess. It comes in at a cool 90-proof and very visibly is 6 years old, as indicated by the very large and clearly portrayed “6 Years Old” on the bottle neck. It is said that the Shapira Family, who own Heaven Hill, always has a bottle of this at their respective homes. Makes sense, considering it’s a top quality bourbon for an affordable price, around $25. Not that the Shapira’s pay for their own products. Texas Bourbon deserves recognition this month, so we’re pouring some Samuel Maverick Whiskey Barrel Proof Straight Bourbon.

Here are the stats: 57% ABV, 114 proof. A blended straight bourbon made of 72% Texas corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley. Distilled in Texas. Aged for a minimum of two years. Available online and at Maverick Whiskey in San Antonio, TX. 750ml. Sixty-five doll hairs.

MBLS Tasting Notes:
On the nose, cinammon, clove, sweet dough and wet to***co. The palate brings a good amount of heat from the proof and spice. Allowing it some time in the glass, the punch of alcohol subsides to dark rich fruit and a pop of apple. for the opportunity to try this whiskey.

Launched in June of 2022, this limited-release edition consists of fully-matured Woodford Reserve Oat Grain Bourbon, which is then finished in a second barrel that has been heavily toasted.
