The learning continues. I decided to try coyote hunting since they are so prevalent here in Southern California. I picked a spot close to home and saw maybe 10 coyotes on the way there. But when I got to the spot where you can legally hunt, not a single coyote was in sight. Hunting pressure is real, and coyotes are smart.
I found a nice hidden spot with the wind at my back and the FoxPro Hellcat about 100 yards away. I tried calling them in with prey distress calls, waited 30 minutes, and still nothing. So, I picked a different spot on the other side of the land, and again, nothing. On the way home, I saw another 5-6 coyotes 😂.
I guess it makes sense. Why would they stay in designated hunting areas when they can live in neighborhoods, making easy meals out of pets? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Like I said, they’re smart.

Whatcha think? Venison or wild pig with Garrison Brothers? 🥃 Garrison Brothers Bourbon and wild pig both lean towards the sweeter side. Would they pair well together, or is that too overdoing it with the sweetness. Maybe Venison? We’re gonna find out soon!

You can absolutely learn to hunt on your own. After drilling gun safety into my head, the next step was to get out to the range and start practicing. Try, fail, fix, and repeat. There are a thousand things I’m doing wrong, but at least I’m hitting clays! I’ll fine-tune the rest as I go along.
