Twin brothers Guillaume and Baptiste Frey have set out on a mission to highlight the individuality and nuances of Chenin Blanc from a variety of soil types, within Vouvray. With soils ranging from various clays to flint & limestone, the duo work as Clos Thierrière, in a minimal-interventionist way to protect the purity of the resulting wines.

Organic farming, with a focus on promoting biodiversity, is elaborated through parcellaire bottlings to showcase the variety of terroir within the region.

Clos Thierrière may be young (starting in 2021 with the purchase of an existing estate), yet they are already receiving attention within the Loire and across France and the world. Brilliant!

Domaine des Closiers is one of the most exciting estates to emerge from the Loire in recent years.

This historic estate in Saumur-Champigny was purchased in 2018 by Anatole de la Brosse, a management-consultant-turned-wine-lover who, in fact, started his career studying oenology.

Domaine des Closiers’ approach follows pure quality first; so much that in order to really dive into the nuances of the terroir, Anatole has engaged Michel Chevré (from Clos de l'Ecotard) to consult on bio-conversion, and Nady Foucault (formerly from Clos Rougeard) to advise on winemaking. The resulting wine style is one of depth and complexity, a thrilling and stunning contrast to the 'simpler' examples of Cabernet Franc.

, 12 days to the big day. We’re just about to wrap up this stellar curation of Champagnes for the year! On the eleventh day: Billecart Salmon, Nicolas Francois 2008

This exceptional cuvée was created in 1964 as a tribute to the House’s founder. It results from the blending of Grands Crus from the classified Côte des Blancs vineyards (Chardonnay) and the Montagne de Reims (Pinot Noir). Its vinification, partially in traditional oak casks, underpins the generous character of this fine, elegant and rich wine.

, 12 days to the big day. This year, we’ve curated a series of Champagnes, from the renowned classics to the rising stars. On the eighth day: Louis Roederer, Cristal 2015

Amongst the Grandes Marques, Louis Roederer sits in a somewhat unique position—they own all the lands that go into all bottlings, save for some purchased fruit for their NV. This Cristal is their tête de cuvée; in fact, the team now works the vineyards biodynamically for this wine.

, 12 days to the big day. Renowned classics to rising stars, have you seen this exceptional curation of Champagnes yet? On the seventh day: Dhondt Grellet, Les Nogers 2018

Since Adrien Dhondt has taken on the family domaine, the quality of their wines have been exploding under his tenure.

Les Nogers comes from a Cuis lieu-dit (Les Nogers) that transitions from sandy to chalky soils as one ascends the slope. One of his most highly regarded cuvees, with incredible depth and complexity (despite being one of the younger wines on show for the tasting). Adrien is truly one to watch has he continues to make amazing wines that transform his family's estate.
