Yesterday we took Mini C for his first trip to “One of Daddy’s favourite places”. Majestic Wine (Stourbridge) always delivering the goods! Always a warm welcome from great folk there 🙌🏻 Tried 3 fantastic wines from the tasting table -
Cambria “Katherine’s Vineyard” 2021 Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay - despite its obvious oak influences of vanilla, it still retained a lot of its freshness with quite obvious peach and apple, very well balanced.
Next was “Te Kahu” a single Vineyard red blend from Hawkes bay (NZ) 2020. A cracker of a blend with lots going on, very fruit forward but I was informed it was very closed to begin with and only really opened up some time after (which was when I tried it!), cassis and blackberries everywhere but not jammy at all, very fresh balanced well with nutty and more savoury notes.
Finally the Catena Zapata “Catenary Alta” Malbec, a very well known Malbec producer already but this being a slightly higher end Malbec and boy didn’t it show. Glorious purple colour, silky smooth, black fruits everywhere with a bit of coffee and vanilla. A “proper” Malbec. I enjoyed this so much I had to buy one!
This was mostly a trip for other people but I did buy one other bottle I’ll be reviewing soon!
Have a cracking Sunday everyone!
