There Is No Crisis In Anambra Revenue House -- Madubuko
.. Takes Osita Obi To Cleaners

BY RAYMOND OZOJI, Awka

The Executive Director in charge of Operations in the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS) Dr. Christian Madubuko has debunked in totality the allegations being peddled by one Osita Obi that the Revenue House has been submerged with supremacy tussle.

It would be recalled that the said Osita Obi had claimed in some sections of the media that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo made a fatal mistake by creating Executive Directors in the State Board of Internal Revenue that are not answerable to the Chairman.

Osita Obi claimed that the creation of Executive Directors plunged the Revenue House into an unending crisis such that the Executive Directors now take unilateral decisions thereby reducing the Chairman to a mere figure head.

But Madubuko in an exclusive interview with this reporter, said no such thing ever existed in the Revenue House. That the place is in order and all Executive Directors reported directly to the Chairman of the Board.

Madubuko who described Osita Obi as a rumour monger, said he is taking him to the cleaners because his rumours sting like the stench from public latrine.

Madubuko said...

PALLIATIVE:ANAMBRA KEKE OWNERS,RIDERS AND BUS OPERATORS HAIL SOLUDO,RENEW SUPPORT

Awka:Obiorah Anthony

The Anambra State Tricycle (Keke) Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria(TOAN) ,Awka Zone as well its Sister Organization in the Bus Sector, have unanimously renewed their collective support to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo administration in the State .

Making this known in Awka during press interview on the recent palliative package of Governor Soludo Government for Ndi-Anambra , the Chairman Tricycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria,(TOAN) Awka Zone,Prince Collins Ozojiofor, said that the twenty percent reduction of the tax they pay to Anambra State Government as contained in the Governor's recent palliative packages to cushion the negative effects of the fuel subsidy removal have reduced their sufferings to the barest minimum in the State.

The Chairman, who recalled that they have before today wrote to Governor Soludo on the untold sufferings members of the Association were facing in the State as a result of the unbearable tax rate in the State, thanked the Governor for hearing their cry, hence the reduction of the tax policy for them by Anambra State Government to twenty percent.

Prince Collins ,who reiterated that the recent fatherly disposition shown to them by Governor Soludo was a clear indication that he has a listening ears to the plights of Ndi-Anambra,especially those in the transport sector, maintained that the Association would continue to support him as long as he continued to listing to their complains in the State.

He stated that as the father of the State that they would continue to lay their complains to him ,especially in the areas they are having difficulties with particular reference to redesigning the current tax policy of the Anambra State Government so that those of them in the transport sector will continue pay for only the days they are on duty and not to pay for the days they were not on duty.

He suggested that the Government could also dvice means where the tricycle riders could pay their tax on daily ,weekly and monthly basis as obtained in other States in the South-East Geo political zone ,especially in Abia State where their counterparts in the State pay their taxe on daily basis and not the other way round .

Prince Ozojiofor, who used the forum to make it categorically clear that One Mr Osita Obi was not a member of the Anambra State Tricycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria,(TOAN) Awka Zone, stated that he was meant to understand or to believe that he (Mr.Ostia Obi) is an astute activist in line with what he saw him writing online ,saying that an activist has nothing to do with the leadership business or affairs of the Association in the State.

In my greatest surprise, I saw him trying to force himself to the activities of the Association in Anambra State and by so doing he form baseless group as a platform he use to deceive the State Government by telling all sorts of lies against Members of the Association in the State to achieve his selfish interest, cheap popularity or a way to secure seat in Anambra State Government, he said.

He advised him to desist from blackmailing or telling unfound lies against them, but should work towards telling only the truth as an elderly man, reminding him that if he likes to join the Association that he can do so as far as he does that through due process assuriing him that the door of Association is always wide open for those who want to join them.

While thanking the Commissioner for Transport ,Mrs Pat Igwebike whom he said that Governor Soludo hears their cry through her as a virtuous mother, pleaded with the Commissioner to continue with her good work in the Ministry, especially in the Transport Sector without fear and advised the tricycle drivers and their counterparts in bus sector to desist from consuming hard drugs to avoid running into the risk of damaging their immune system or ruining their brighter future forever.

Lending his voice, the Chairman, Awka and Onitsha Bus Drivers Association,Old Road, Anambra State,Comrade Fred Nweke, maintained that the Governor Soludo's timely intervention to ameliorate the untold hardship the people found themselves because of the fuel subsidy removal was a welcome development, but not without pleading with the Governor to please save the two sister Organizations from further agitation by creating a fertile ground that would afford them opportunity to be paying their tax base on what he described as pay as you go in the State through epayment.

ANAMBRA BUS,TRICYCLE DRIVERS AND RIDERS SUE FOR NEW TAX REGIME, REFUTE (AKDF) AND (ASBDF).
..Appeal for daily pay

AWKA; Obiorah Anthony

It has gotten to our knowledge that some faceless group by name keke drivers welfare forum(AKDF) and Anambra shuttle bus drivers forum(ASBDF) lead by mr Osita Obi who is neither a shuttle or keke owner nor rider is withdrawing services to the public any moment soon. This according to him is to protest governor chukwuma soludo heavy taxation.

In a press interview in Awka with the Zonal chairman of tricycle owners and riders Association of Nigeria Anambra state chapter(TOAN) Prince Collins Ozojiofor said that Anambra keke Drivers Forum is a faceless group and mr Osita Obi is not a keke rider nor owner so therefor dose not have any business with keke tricycle welfare in the state or the right to decide when to withdrew services to the public.Prince Collins Ozojiofor also said that it is only Tricycle owners and riders association of Nigeria(TOAN) which is a trade union that has the right to interfer in keke tricycle affairs.

Prince Collins Ozojiofor also pleads with governor chukwuma soludo to please revisit the tax digital payment process and review it.

The bus and Tricycle (keke) owners and drivers in Anambra State have appealed to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo to create a conducive avenue where they could pay their taxes on daily, weekly and monthly basis to the State Government.

Prince Collins Ozojiofor, who stated that the Keke owners and the riders in the state were in support of the the State Government's new digital tax policy for all in the transport sector in the State, argued that it had created a conducive environment for the Government to collect its tax money seamlessly, rather than trusting it in the hands of few people whom he said do not return the tax money to Government coffer.

He said that their problem with the new digital tax policy of the Anambra State Government under the watch of Governor Soludo was the way and manner the tax process was structured and managed presently, adding that the Government had derailed completely from major objective behind the introduction of the Keke business by the Federal Government of Nigeria to alleviate poverty among the poorest of the poor in Country, especially the young Nigerian youths .

He noted that the main problem they are having with Governor Soludo was that they were being forced to pay for what they did not work for and therefore, wondered why the taskforce of the Government could force them to pay penalty for the days they did not go to work may be as a result of accident, ill health and travelling.

The Chairman, who said that they were advocating what he described as pay as you go, where the Keke riders could choose to pay on daily basis and not to pay for the days they did not work, maintained that the present tax system meted out with the tricycle operators in the state did not go down well with them .

He called for the redesigning of current tax system as it affects the tricycle operators and the owners so that they could pay for only the days they were on duty through the digital payment, adding that the State Government's Tax Force could then apprehend the defaulters, prosecute them and made them to pay the stipulated penalty therein any time suitable to them.

He recalled that they supported the Governor during the election very well, hence he should hear their cry and come to their aid as the father of the State by dissuading the antics of the people who feed him with wrong information only for him to have wrong impression about the Keke riders in the State, stressing that they were not happy with the method of tax collection meted out to them now by the State Government.

"How could a Keke rider who is under high purchase cope with this new tax policy? How can a person, who depend on his daily income to carter for his family, feed and pay the school fees of his children, cope under this system?", he said.

Also speaking, the Chairman, Awka and Onitsha Bus Drivers Association, Mr. Fred Nweke, corroborated Prince Ozojiofor, saying that the current modus operandi outlined by the State Government for the Keke and bus Drivers in the State needed some adjustment to tally with the current economic reality in the country.

He opined that they were not against the ongoing tax formula by the Government, but what they stood for, is for the Government to allow the taxpayment by their members to become optional, recalling what he called "daily toll" where they could pay on daily basis during the Willie Obiano administration.

Igbo Woman from Ndoni.
She's wearing Odu anklets which is worn by titled Igbo women of the Otu Odu society.
Outside Onitsha & Asaba, it is known as the Iyom title.
As a descendant of Mmaku, father of Ikenga and grandfather of Nnewi the founding ancestor of my hometown Nnewi (North), I have a special love for Ndoni.
Our original dialect (before assimilation into Anambra Igbo dialect) is based on Ndoni Igbo dialect because some of my ancestors came from the Ndoni area and settled in Anambra around the 15th century.
Our central Deity is Ezemewi, husband of our central goddess Edo Agbaja (The popular bank road which connects their shrines is still known as Edo-Ezemewi road while Nnewi is also known as Anaedo in honour of Edo, the goddess).
Ezemewi is known by the elders as Ugili nwa onye olu i.e. Ugili child of Olu people.
Olu/Oru refer to riverine Igbos and Ndoni is in the Niger Delta.
Religious shrines do contain the history of those who worship in it. In other words, our church archives will be used by future generations to gain knowledge of their past history whilst our ancestral shrines can inform us about our ancestral history.
For instance; when travelling to a far away land, our ancestors would take a chalk (Nzu) from the shrine of their central deity.
They then deposited this chalk and built a shrine in their new settlement. The new deity was usually named after the original one. So if the Original one is Agbala or Ogwugwu, the new one will be Nwa-Agbala or Nwangwu. Igbo mythology also includes details of the ‘lives’ of deities for instance I know Nnewi is considered an Edo Agbaja town because Edo was once married to a deity from Agbaja in Abatete.
So, when we go around destroying the holy places of our ancestors, we are also erasing our own history! We have to preserve them for future generations! O di mkpa!
Preserving them doesn't imply leaving your Christian shrine to worship at an Odinani shrine.
It means respecting and protecting them in the same way European Christians protect & preserve the shrines of their ancestors (some of them such as Stonehenge is a major tourist attraction). There’s no contradiction in this, unless you’re foolish.
Ndi Ndoni ekenem unu!

SOLUDO AT 63: LEADING WITH HEART AND VISION - A BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE!

By Christian ABURIME

In March this year when the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, marked his first year in office, his chief guest, former President Olusegun Obasanjo made news with some remarks he made at the event in Awka.

Reminiscing in his speech, President Obasanjo in his characteristic outspokenness disclosed that he was at one time against the ambition of Professor Soludo becoming just a Governor but was reserving him for some bigger international assignments or at least at the Federal level. Why? Hear the former president:

“In the course of my experience with Chukwuma, I had mapped out for him something greater in my mind until one day he came to me and said he was going to contest for governor of Anambra State. I did not disguise my anger and I said no because I see him as someone at national or international assignments."

"I made him my chief economic adviser. I was very happy with him and I sent him to the CBN he performed creditably well. From what I have heard and what I have seen, you have not disappointed me and I believe you have not disappointed the people of Anambra State.”

Indeed, no other personality could have vouched for the excellent leadership qualities of Governor Soludo than President Obasanjo himself. And today, no people could confirm the achievements of their state governor better than Ndi Anambra themselves. Despite being deemed worthy of higher ambitions than being a state governor, Prof. Soludo chose to stoop low to conquer. It is a testament of his uncanny humility, love of Anambra State and sense of selfless service that he aspired to be governor, so he can touch lives from his own roots, rather than taking his stellar gifts to the larger world.

And so far, as the governor gracefully clocks another year in his life, he has given, and is still giving, the best of himself to Anambra State in terms of good governance.

The daunting challenges he met in office notwithstanding, the revered Professor of Economics and tested technocrat armed himself with a sublime vision for Anambra State: to transform it into a livable, prosperous smart mega city-state, an Africa’s axis of sustainable prosperity, where Ndi Anambra and all-comers are welcome to live in, work, invest and enjoy. His vision is hinged on five policy pillars, which are Security, Law and Order, Infrastructure and Economic Transformation, Human Capital and Social Agenda, Governance and Value System, and Sustainable Environment.

Running with these vision-driven policy pillars, Governor Soludo has been making verifiable impact. In the area of security, law and order, the Soludo administration has prioritized the restoration of law and order with profound judicial reforms, as well as taken critical measures in the security of lives and property of Ndi Anambra.

Although random security breaches do occur once in a while, the rampant menace of insecurity he met last year has reduced drastically now. Robust security architecture has been strengthened in collaboration with gallant joint security forces, including the state vigilante service. Today, no stone is being left unturned to keep Anambra State safe and secure as much as unrepentant criminals still want to dare the law.

To boost economic transformation and infrastructure, over 300 kilometers of roads are in various stages of completion across the state, with many more on the way. Also, there is a functioning MOU with the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company for a 24hrs supply of electricity in the state, just as those who are interested in setting up Independent Power Plants in the state are welcome to do so.

On transportation, traffic chaos in urban centres are being sorted out, while the government is also working towards the introduction of rail services, both light and sky rails. In the health and education sectors, serious human capital investments have been made with the employment of 5,000 teachers and over 300 medical personnel to end the pathetic eras of schools without teachers and hospitals without doctors and nurses.

Agricultural renaissance is also going on in the state, with the government introducing new regenerative agriculture practices and distributing hundreds of thousands of oil palm and coconut seedlings to farmers and individuals order to combat poverty and improve disposable incomes for many households.

The system of governance in Anambra has been reformed with the civil service, public sector service and IGR now being done in line with best practices. Urban renewal efforts are ongoing in key cities of Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi, while the twin-menace of gully erosion and flooding in the state is being kept under control.

And lately, Governor Soludo, passionately restless to accelerate the transformation of Anambra State, has been embarking on town hall meetings with Ndi Anambra outside the state in order to drive home the much-needed investments towards the homeland development.

Thus he has held such town hall meetings with Anambra-born businessmen and women, including professionals in Lagos and Abuja, with more to come.

There is no doubt that, in the hallowed halls of governance today, Governor Soludo’s presence shines like a guiding star, illuminating the path of progress and prosperity for his beloved Anambra State.

A leader of unwavering dedication, he embodies the virtues of integrity, wisdom, and empathy, resonating deeply with the hearts of the people he serves. Through turbulent tides and triumphant moments alike, his steady hand is navigating Anambra to unprecedented frontiers, leaving an indelible mark upon its tapestry. Only sinister cynics would deny this.

The canvas of Anambra’s landscape is being painted with strokes of innovation under his watchful gaze. A beacon of progress, the governor is ushering in an era of technological advancement too, fostering an environment where entrepreneurship and industry can flourish. With an eye towards sustainable development, he is kindling the flame of eco-consciousness, restoring the natural splendour of the state with tree planting and other urban renewal initiatives.

But it is not just through infrastructure and other concrete developmental actions that the governor’s leadership shines; it is also in the compassionate touch with which he tends to the needs of the most vulnerable. It would be recalled that he recently came out of the National Economic Council meeting in State House, Abuja, to announce the need for his fellow state governors to make sacrifices, by reducing their convoys of cars for example, in sensitivity to the current economic hardship Nigerians are going through.

His heart beats in rhythm with the aspirations of the marginalized, and his policies stand tall as guardians of social justice, ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of progress. A true servant of the people, he listens to their voices, their hopes, and their dreams, shaping policies that resonate with the collective heartbeat of Anambra.

His open-door policy beckons every citizen to partake in the journey of governance, nurturing a sense of belonging and shared responsibility.

Today, as Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo marks his birthday, it is with hearts brimming with joy and admiration that we pay homage to a leader ahead of his time, an exceptional visionary, an ardent lover of Anambra State, a humanist and a pan-Nigerian patriot.

As the gentle zephyrs carry our words of felicitation to him, may the years ahead be graced with boundless inspiration, courage, and wisdom, and may his legacy forever inspire those who walk the path of leadership.

Happy Birthday sir, dear Mr Governor - a beacon of hope for Anambra and beyond.

A 24-year-old lady has alleged that the gunman who was recently arrested at a popular hotel in Anambra State r***d and robbed her at gunpoint earlier before his arrest.

Recall that the gunman, Mr. Akuchieani Echezona was recently arrested by the operatives of the Anambra State Police Command when he was seen roaming about in the hotel. The police operatives also recovered one English-made pistol and three rounds of live ammunition from him, among other incriminating items.

However, in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, the Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu said the suspect has also now been identified as a ra**st and robber, given the latest allegations by the lady.

According to him, the lady, who is graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, did not only identify the suspect as the person who r***d and robbed her, but also identified her phone among the phones recovered from the suspect.

DSP Ikenga added that two more pistols were recovered from the suspect, while information available also revealed that he (the suspect) was responsible for the murder of at least two persons in separate incidents in Awka in the last three months.

The statement read: “Following publication of picture of the gunman arrested at a popular hotel in Awka two days ago by Anambra State Police Command, a 24-year-old graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University has come forward to allege that the suspect robbed and r***d her at gunpoint at another hotel in Awka on 11th July, 2023.

Awka South Keke Chairman Sues Osita Obi Over Defamation Of Character

The Chairman of Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Awka South Chapter, Hon. Prince Collins Ozojiofor (alias Snoop) has institute a case of Defamation of Character and Blackmail against one Mr. Osita Obi of Umuawulu Town in Awka South LGA.

In the suit (A/191/2023) filed by Hon. Collins Attorney at Awka High Court, he demanded the sum of Five Hundred Million Naira (500,000,000) as cost of damages done to his name and reputation.

He said that Mr. Osita Obi, the man he sued is parading himself as the Coordinator of a faceless Union named 'Anambra Keke Drivers Forum (AKDF)'.

While speaking to Journalist at Awka, the Capital of Anambra State, Hon. Collins explained that Tricycle owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) is a registered Trade Union which elected him with the responsibilities of piloting their affairs in Awka South LGA of Anambra State.

He maintained that the said Anambra Keke Drivers forum(AKDF) is not a registered Trade Union and must not interfere in the affairs of Tricycle, Owners and Riders in Anambra State, especially in Awka South.

Hon. Collins claimed that Osita Obi created the unknown group just to fight him and his Union that is purely recognized by Government. But when he failed in his illegal fight against his Union, he resorted to lies , blackmail and defamation of his character.

Hon. Collins claimed that the illegal activities of Mr. Osita Obi is a ploy to incite and turn him against the State Government, his subordinate and the general public.

He lamented that in a bid to destroy his image and set him against the Government, Mr. Obi accused him of being a cultist and Gang leader of a dreaded cult group which he must prove in the Court of Law.

Hon. Collins wondered why Osita Obi will use such heinous allegations against his person just in a bid to take over the Leadership of Keke Union.

He explained that Mr. Obi has continually peddled falsehood and wrong information about him to the present Administration of Gov. Soludo in a bid to take over the Keke Leadership in Awka South and Anambra at large.

He concluded that notwithstanding the incessant blackmail, unfounded allegations by Mr. Osita Obi, he and all the members of Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) Awka South are focused and determined to work with the Administration of Gov. Charles Chukwuma Soludo.

He said that TOAN under his leadership has already keyed into the Government tax net and will work diligently to achieve greater goals and meet up with the tempo of development across the 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra State.
