🍇 HAPPY SHIRAZ DAY PEOPLE! 🍇
Today the world recognises this epic grape with the inaugural Shiraz Day.
With its thick skins and love for SUNSHINE, Shiraz (aka Syrah) is one of Australia’s most established and loved grapes. It makes full-bodied and rich wines, with Australian styles being a bit sweeter, riper and almost jammy in flavour compared to the styles typical in the Old World and cooler climates, but still keeps its distinctive spicy aromas.
Think deep colour, some tannic structure and potent aromas and flavours of black fruit, jam, dark chocolate, smoked bacon and black pepper.
Now I’ve tempted you, check out a couple of the great bottles Oh Grape stocks - from @larrycherubino the lovely Ad Hoc Middle of Everywhere, Shiraz, 2018 from Frankland River, Western Australia (silky and juicy deliciousness), or if you’re feeling a bit more flush, the wonderful Bachelor's Block Single Site Shiraz, 2018 produced by @thistledownwines from Ebenezer in Barossa, South Australia (polished and complex).
