Sour beers are like marmite. I love them.. not all of them, granted! But do persevere, they are so worth it. This is THE PÚCA BERRY HIBISCUS & GINGER from A tart and refreshing wheat beer brewed with oats, lemon peel, ginger and coriander. The flavour and aroma are dominated by fresh citrus and hibiscus notes. Beautifully balanced acidity, with an ultra refreshing finish. £10 for 4

Complex, vibrant (a little like myself!) from one of the Rueda’s most modern and vibrant producers.

Intense aromas of stone fruit, tangerine oil and citrus. A rounded and complex palate with peach and apricot fruit and notes of grass and fennel. Textural, though bright and pure with a long finish. £9.99 - delivery available BT1-18

Nothing says Christmas like a Chablis. Perfect with those beautiful prawns in your prawn cocktail or just to start the meal off with some canapés. It gives richness and balance and at £16.95 is a beautiful addition to your Christmas Day table!

A little late in the day but my third choice in the is this English sparkling. This is such a treat for Christmas Day! Hailed as the Krug of England, it has apple fresh aromas of
traditional-method sparkling wines, plus a wonderful earthy, mushroomy note. The high acidity gives it zip and salinity, but there is plenty of flesh on these bones, providing excellent balance.

The second wine in our was a huge hit from our French wine and cheese evening and only £10.99. Domaine du Pré Baron, Touraine Sauvignon Blanc 2018, vegan and 13.7% (keep this away from my mum!)

A textbook Sauvignon Blanc and it’s not from New Zealand! 100% estate grown fruit from 25 year old vines from sandy soils.

This Sauvignon has a beautiful perfume, crushed blackcurrants and gooseberries on the nose, followed by an intense, fresh palate.

Best enjoyed in a hammock! In other words, whatever the heck you want to enjoy it with… just enjoy!
