September’s gin was from West Yorkshire, and a new entry to the gin category.

Founded by Tom Clark in 2020, Castle Hill are a small producer based in Huddersfield and named after an ancient raised area of land just south of Huddersfield near Almondsbury, where the Victoria Tower depicted on the bottle label stands tall.
The distillery was started in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing Tom to realise a lifelong dream.
The gin is made using seven botanicals, which crucially includes rosemary and thyme, giving this gin a notable herbal character paired with spice from cinnamon. The distillery also produces a Lady Grey gin made using bergamot oranges (like the tea).

Your latest gin should be with you now, and it’s a gooden! We are visiting Kent at one of the most architecturally spectacular gin distilleries that we have come across. Copper Rivet are part of a small group of gin distilleries who make everything onsite, and Dockyard Gin is the perfect summer gin with locally sourced botanicals such as elderflower really shining through - summer in a G&T! ☀️🍸💚

This month’s gin packs a punch. Throw in the unusual botanical of smoked oak into the mix and you have yourself a gin that will play sweet sea shanties in your ear while lashing you with a cat o’ nine tails!

BeaFort VS is a British gin modelled on the old Navy Strength gins of yesteryear. It was common aboard Navy ships to carry ‘overproof’ spirits in case of spillages that might render gunpowder useless. The traditional strength at which spirit was deemed sufficiently flammable was 100 proof, which in old British money was 57% alcohol by volume - 50% stronger than some gins!

The name of our latest gin, Height of Arrows, is the literal translation of Àrd-Na-Said, the Gaelic name for the Edinburgh mountain Arthur’s Seat. Standing at 251m, the height of Arthur’s Seat is said to be the furthest distance an archer could shoot a bow. Holyrood Distillery

This month’s gin gives us powerful but well defined juniper, with slight citric and herbal notes.
Just three botanicals go into Height of Arrows: juniper, beeswax, and salt. An enormous amount of complexity is achieved here that belies the simplicity of the recipe. We love it.

We hope you’ve enjoyed March’s gin as much as we have. Jim & Tonic’s Szechuan Pepper & Mango Gin is a gin that combines Eastern flavours with traditional gin botanicals to great effect. The overall result is florality, with the oft fragrance of jasmine combining with light and fruity mango aromas plus the vibrant zing of szechuan pepper. This is the perfect gin to welcome in the spring!

Jim & Tonic | Jasmine, Szechuan Pepper & Mango Gin 🥭🍃
This might be the most unusual gin we’ve featured so far at Gin Me, and before tasting it we had concerns about tropical flavours and intense florals. But the featured botanicals are balanced and have a nice harmony with one another. The mango is more apparent on the nose, while on the palate the pepper really shows itself. We hope you like it!
