The government said today that on August 31, it will lower its COVID-19 level to its lowest, and stop counting and posting the number of daily confirmed cases, basically declaring an end to the coronavirus pandemic after 3 years and 7 months.

Announcement of cancellation of the 17th Busan Fireworks Festival.

On October 29, a national mourning period was declared due to the tragic incident in Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

Accordingly, the 17th Busan Fireworks Festival, which was scheduled to be held on Saturday, November 5, has been canceled.
We ask for your understanding.

We express our deepest condolences to the victims of the accident and wish all of those injured will make a full recovery.

A joint memorial altar for the victims of the tragic Itaewon accident has been set up at Seoul Plaza, with anyone allowed to pay their respects between 8AM and 10PM through Saturday.

A similar altar has been set up at the Noksapyeong Station Plaza (the area where people skateboard at the entrance of the main Itaewon street).

A makeshift altar has been set up at Itaewon Station Exit 1 as well, with flowers and candles.

Next month is the Qatar World Cup and fortunately, seven group games (but none great) are on at 7 p.m. Korean Standard Time. bars and restaurants with TV screens will be packed for each game. You can find many places that will air the games but the bars in the Itaewon-Haebangchon-Gyeongnidan area will have commentary in English.
