Beer Review #862315
Loophole Brewing Sly Fox Drypa
So what does a Jaffa, a javelin thrower, a winemaker, a fox, a German season, two surfers and a Swedish adjective have in common, why clearly this beer! So there was a winemaker who lived at Cape Jaffa who decided to brew beer as a hobby and means to increase his already copious supply of alcohol. From 50 litre batches he decided he needed help so he gave a job to a brewer who learnt how make wine and taught him to make beer, oh and they are both surfers too. This led to this style of beer called Drypa. Now this is actually a Swedish word which means to drip, to ooze to seep. However I suspect it actually mean DRY Pale Ale but my Scandinavian heritage requires me to prefer the former. Inspired also by German Marzen (spring) lagers this is a hoppy pale ale with a very dry finish. A lovely front palate with malty nuttiness from Aussie and German malts, a subtle citrus zing then a neutral clean dry finish that inspires you to keep sipping, well suited to stinking hot summer days. The fox reference is obvious, as for the javelin thrower, you had better buy some and read the can.
