Last night & cranked it up to 15!
Wonderful and rare opportunity to taste so many 2015 Red Burgundy from the Cote de Nuits with the semi-retired 🤡🙏🏻

From the first wine to the last, the 2015s all showed their promise and potential over the next several decades. Some were a bit tight and shy while others were very pretty and seductive. Our first was Mugnier Les Amoureuses and it was a show stopper remaining one of my highlights of the night. Mugneret-Gibourg represented the most consistent set of wines all showing great and enjoyable now. Roumier Bonnes-Mares is burtsting with character and promise but was overall a bit tight. The Dujacs need time, very Dujac in personality and will require some patience but the overall mouthfeel and texture are very much something to look forward to. Rousseau CSJ was signing and the two Chambertin kept flip flopping personalities as they opened and evolved. DRC very much the domaines style and all wines true to their dna but GE last night smoked it.
Truly an exceptional tasting and rare opportunity but most importantly the kitchen nailed it! Bravo and thanks 🙏🏻

A true pleasure to taste the majority of the complete range with Jason Lett today as the Lett family celebrates the 57th anniversary of the original planting of The Eyrie Vineyard.

The upcoming 2018 vintage is absolutely stunning. Truly beautiful Pinot Noir.

My tasting today inspired me to check-in on the 2017 Pinot Noir The Eyrie over dinner and as expected this wine is showcasing the pedigree and vine age of this marvelous site. Classy and refined The Eyrie is one of the most important vineyards in the lexicon of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. Without The Eyrie and the Lett family the Willamette Valley may never have become the Pinot Noir Mecca that it is today.

The beguiling and seductive Pinot Noirs that have for centuries captured the hearts, minds, love, and appreciation of wine lovers.

The inherent nature of seeking the best and rating wines and vineyards compel collectors, drinkers, and trade to focus on the most well known, sure bets, and most coveted. In Burgundy that means even from the best of producers there are wines in their range that are overlooked, overshadowed or just forgotten about by the market.

These are the wines that become the or for

Many will argue that Beaune-Greves is not one of these wine but in my humble 20+ years in the wine industry this is a Drouhin wine and 1er Cru vineyard that just does not get the credit and attention it truly deserves.

One of those moments when you treat yourself to such a rarity that you know you will most likely never be able to secure another bottle of the same vintage. Laliefine is a wine that if I’m lucky I can secure a single bottle a release for myself. The 2015 is just a baby but was in a perfect spot tonight. The texture seductively smooth while bold and firm just enough on the edges. The nose explosive and savory with a never ending finish.

WOW! Simply stunning and delicious. My kind of Champagne. Salty, mineral, racy, complex with a breadth of texture that unwinds in the glass and then reveals florals and citrus elements. Bravo to & for this collaboration with

It has been over a year since my last hard post and it seems only appropriate to return with an older Nebbiolo just as I ended.

‘78 was a special vintage for Mauro Mascarello as the wines across the board are spectacular. Villero has long been one of my favorite Barolo from Mauro, when you can find it. A classic expression of Villero that is the most nervy of anyone today. Here the nose was full of cherries that were still bright and inviting with a dried side that evolved into classic older Nebbiolo-balsamic and a silty earthy character. This slowly opened with dried florals, fall leaves and hints of hen of the wood mushrooms. Fresh and laser like upon opening that gradually was silky and seductive at the end.

All for charity and fun with the team over Halloween weekend. A real treat!

It is an honor to receive this acknowledgment during such a challenging year.

has always made a good Chardonnay but 2018 marks a new era for this iconic property. Chardonnay game is on 🔥 with the 2018 vintage! This wine is so delicious I drank a half bottle without blinking and before I even had lunch on the table.
