*Stop Harassing the Sunzu Family.*

The DP is concerned to learn that a team of immigration officials visited the Sunzu family to investigate and ascertain the nationality of Zambia’s soccer icon Stoppila Sunzu.

While we appreciate that the immigration department has a duty to secure our boarders against illegal immigrants as well as prohibited immigrants, we find it strange that the immigration department has suddenly come to a realization that Sunzu is not Zambian. For avoidance of doubt it is the same Stoppila Sunzu who scored the winning goal that made Zambia carry the 2012 AFCON trophy.

Stoppila’s father who was being interrogated is also a football legend who played football in Zambia during the Kaunda and Chiluba days.

The only thing that has changed is that this Son of the soil decided to make an investment in a property that was good enough for a former head of state to rent. Stoppila Sunzu had the option of building a property anywhere in the world but he chose to build in Zambia and it is our view that any leader that means well for this country must encourage Zambians to invest in Zambia and they should be protected for making such investments rather than being persecuted or demonized simply because their tenant is a former head of state.
If the New Dawn government in their wisdom managed to deport Stoppila Sunzu and his family, what will happen to the 2012 AFCON win?

Those who understand the rules of the game will tell you that fielding an illegal player is grounds for disqualification.
It is our considered view as the DP that the New Dawn government should focus on addressing real problems that the people are faced with.

They should be looking at how they will address the issue of free education for university students who have been left out of the bursary and can no longer afford to go into university because their parents or guardians are too poor to afford the fees.

They should be looking at how they are going to address the issue of the cost of living for an average Zambian who can barely afford two meals a day. They focus on addressing the challenge of how citizens are going to afford the looming increase in the cost of electricity and fuel. People expect the government to be focused on real issues not spending tax payers money on witch hunting and settling personal political scores.
Finally, we would like to advise government to be restrained in their actions and ensure that they take time to introspect before they expose the country to unnecessary ridicule and shame through emotional decisions. Zambia are the 2012 AFCON Champions and the winning goal was scored by Stoppila Sunzu a Zambian, get used to it.

The Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) has expressed disappointed with the sentiments released by the PF provincial chairperson Mr. Kennedy Kamba.

Mr. Kamba yesterday issued the statement that John Sangwa should be treated as political opponent anywhere he is found.

This is following the filling in of a petition by the constitutional lawyer Mr. Sangwa who is petitioning the eligibility of president Edgar Chagwa lungus ahead of August 12th election.

Zambia goes to general polls on 12th August 2021 in which Edgar Lungu is one of the contenders.

The UPPZ president Mr. Chanda laments!

MY WORRY AND FEAR OVER THE CONSTITUTIONAL INTERPRETATION REGARDING THE ISSUE OF TERM OF OFFICE

I am worried as to why those that are giving us interpretations are only doing so one sided to advance the agenda of "term" under the 2016 Constitution. If such a rule of interpretation is advanced where we want to apply the two years President Lungu completed using the 2016 Constitution, it will then open the pandora box.

According to the 2016 constitution if we apply it to the Elections of 2015 the way we are imposing the 2016 Constitution to interpret the term, it means President Lungu did not win the elections as PF got 47.84% short of the 50+1.

My fear then would be if this issue is not handled carefully it has the potential to lead to treason case as one cannot be President illegally. May the legal minds apply their minds rightly. Let us think of the future repurcations and what we can prevent now better we prevent. When one may be found wanting every supporter and advisor will not be there.

HEAT IN PF KABWATA CAMP.

Heat is being felt in PF Kabwata camp as Dan Yenga advances his aspiring campaigns. Kabwata constituency which is currently represented by Hon. Given Lubinda who is also the minister of justice.

In retaliating to the cause, Mr. Lubinda said that he is not bothered by people like Yenga as this is not his first time to face such challenges.

It has also noted that most of the PF incumbent member of parliament are facing a lot of challenges of their seat being strongly contested. Malambo Constituency of Mabwe district is not spared. Mr. Rodgers Lubilo is on cause to challenge Makebi Zulu who is also the provincial minister of Eastern province. Other minister facing serious contest include Jean Kapata, Nkandu Luo, Dra siliya and Bowman Lusambo.

The "self acclaimed new majotity" Democratic Party (DP)'s provincial leadership today met in Chipata ahead of the adoption of their candidates towards the country's general election.

This is in light with the dissolution of parliament which is slated for May 2021. Zambia will holding a tripartite election this year on 12th August.

The meeting comes barely a day after the nomination of Hakainde Hichilema the leader of the opposition party, UPND.

It has been reported from Mazabuka that the driver of the Hilux heading to Lusaka was overtaking and hit the other white vehicle that was headed to Choma. Two died on the spot in the white Mazda heading to Choma while the employee of Zambia sugar and his son driving a grey Hilux, taking him to school have survived and are both reported to be ok .
