Lagavulin Offerman Edition 11 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

A very limited release Lagavulin made in collaboration with actor, writer, comedian and producer Nick Offerman, who played the Lagavulin loving character Ron Swanson

This is 11 year old Single Malt has been matured in a mixture of refill and rejuvenated Bourbon casks before being bottled at 46% ABV

A rare celebrity tie-in that’s worth checking out even if you have no idea who this celebrity is.

Tasting Notes
Color: Bright copper with undertones of gold; paler than the 16-year-old expression, which is said to use caramel coloring.

Nose: Bright fruits like green apple and hints of citrus dominate, accompanied by campfire smoke and salty sea air.

Palate: Whereas the 16-year-old has darker red-apple notes, the Offerman comes on bright and slightly tart, with lots of green apple and peach. Medicinal notes, a hallmark of Islay whiskies, creep in midpalate, quickly giving way to dry oak and campfire smoke. The mouthfeel is rich and buttery.

Finish: Long and lingering, with cereal notes from the barley and light smoke predominating; more subtle than the 16-year-old.

The Dalmore 15 year old was first launched in 2007. Matured in Matusalem, Apostoles and Amoroso Sherry casks, it proffers all those winter spice, orange zest and chocolate notes characteristic of Dalmore.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: A chocolate orange. Potpourri, perfumed. Fruitcake, Sherry.

Palate: Medium, lovely delivery. Zesty orange, Curaçao, chocolate. Winter spice, stem ginger in syrup. Hints of anise and a little hickory.

Finish: Malty barley and smoky espresso.

Served chilled, this classic Junmai sake offers a very fine texture with harmonious aromas and flavors of macadamia nuts, Chai spices.

Blanton’s Original Single Barrel.

Taken from the center-cut or middle sections of the famous Warehouse H, Blanton’s Original Single Barrel was once designated for ambassadors, dignitaries, and Colonel Blanton’s family and friends. Today, everyone has access to the world’s first single barrel bourbon.

Nose: Downright gentle, with lightly toasted pecans, buttered cornbread with honey, maraschino cherries, and fresh hay. Light on spices this time, with only a bit of dried lemon peel. After a few minutes a note of dried apple appears.

Palate: Syrupy body, and mouth-filling. Soft, with only a mild tongue burn… surprising for 46.5% ABV. Unctuously sweet, with candied pecans, brown sugar, blonde fudge, and vanilla cake frosting. A second taste reveals cherry pie filling and a touch of red wine tannin.

Finish: Medium length. A bit nondescript. No tannins, no bitterness at all, but also little else. Some dried cherries, perhaps, a lasting trickle of cake frosting. A second taste improves the finish, but flavors are still thin on the ground with faint shortbread and vague sugars.

Lagavulin 12-Year-Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Limited Quantity)

As our legend goes, one extraordinary day the King of Islay was reborn. A spark of sunlight fell from the sky, and set the land ablaze. When the flames subsided, the scorched earth was veiled in thick smoke. Suddenly, new life rose from the ashes in shimmering feathers of honeyed gold and rich crimson. A regal Phoenix soared above its wings of fire powering the stills of Lagavulin, amplifying its spiced intensity.

Appearance

Gleaming, iridescent gold.

Body

Medium.

Nose

Dry, with an immediate powerful smokiness; much more so than is usual with Lagavulin, with charcoal and fragrant peat massively to the fore, backed by a clean fresh base-note that suggests sea air and mineral scents. Much reduced, aromatically, with even a little water, it remains essentially unaltered.

Palate

The smooth lightly oily texture shines with sweet richness; the taste is sweet to start, then takes off with a soaring lemony acidity and a sprinkling of sea salt to add freshness. Mid-palate the fire dries the taste, which flies still higher now in its salty-smoky intensity. A dash of water rounds and sweetens but it’s the smoke that dominates.

Finish

Long, with great waves of peat-smoke, and new- fired heights of spiced and smoky intensity that last wonderfully in the aftertaste.
