MEET OUR PRODUCERS

Fabio Chiarelotto

Located in the hills of Suvereto, near Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast, Montepeloso is one of the region’s most respected wineries. In 1998 Fabio Chiarelotto, a Swiss-Italian, trained historian acquired the estate with the aim to bring out the best from the terroir-driven varietals.

Fabio grows Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, along with an impressive range of local varieties, including Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Marselan, Malvasia Nera and Alicante Bouschet.

Fabio practices organic viticulture and follows a strict grape selection with up to “three harvests” when necessary. In the cellar, Fabio conducts relatively short macerations, fermentation with natural yeasts, ageing in oak barrels and he bottles without filtration.

Grapes: 100% Vespolina
Viticulture: Practicing organic
Vinification: Destemming and gentle crushing, fermentation in steel barrels. 20 days maceration with frequent pump-over and délestage.
Ageing: In steel barrels for 6 months and then 4 months in the bottle

Alcohol: 12.5% abv

Gilberto Boniperti is an Alto Piemonte rising star thanks to his outstanding winemaking knowledge and stunning vineyards in the heart of the Fara designation. Cristiano Garella, one of the most famous local oenologists, consults here and the resulting wines are simply spectacular. The definition of artisan production, tiny amounts of wine are made here so don’t snooze 🍷🍇

Meet Marco and Giovanni Carosso (aka Cascina Galarin). The brothers that are reshaping the reputation of Monferrato wines.

Galarin is located in a hamlet near Castagnole delle Lanze (just 17 kilometres from Alba). The winery is 100% organic and produce small quantities using some of the most important Piedmontese varieties (such as Barbera, Moscato, Nebbiolo and Freisa). ⁠

LEARN WITH UVENOTECA 📖

Villa Bogdano is an agricultural and winemaking estate with almost 500 years of history, that has been recently acquired by a private and independent family with the aim of producing state of the art wines, favouring autochthonous varieties and preserving biodiversity.

The terroir here is unique.

The winery is located in Lison di Portogruaro, between the Friuli Alps and the Adriatic coast, where the mountains are closest to the sea, ideal for natural daily breezes.
All harvested grapes reach the winery in a few minutes. The alluvial soil is calcareous and rich in organic substances and micro elements. It underlies a thick stratum of clay, that reaches 53% in some places. Although the superficial clay is hard, extremely difficult to work, and gives very low yields, the benefits of such a terroir are enormous as it produces wines with an intense bouquet, smoothness, elegance of tannins and so much more.

Chardonnay Nuvole by Cascina Galarin.

The Wine
Intense and complex nose with tropical fruit and mineral aromas. Mouth is round, with medium acidity, a balanced structure and a pleasantly long aftertaste.

The Family
Galarin is an organic cantina in Castagnole delle Lanze in Monferrato just a few miles from Barbaresco. The Carosso is a family of ambitious winemakers that look after their vineyards with attention, passion and vision.
All the works in the vineyards are carried out manually and in the cellar nothing is left to chance. The resulting wines are clean, full of character and always on point. Like the family itself.

Renato Vezza is not a winemaker. He is a wine artist, an insatiable perfectionist full of ambition and great ideas. Renato started his project (Bricco Ernesto) just a few years ago and in the blink of an eye he has become one of the most followed producers in the region. His global reputation is skyrocketing and for good reasons. His wines are pure, expressive and full or character. They are produced in limited quantities following organic viticolture and with meticulous attention in the cellar.

The majority of Renato’s wines are reserved and sold years in advance and top sommeliers from the world best restaurants often visit the winery to meet him, see the vineyard and learn more about the work in his (tiny) cellar.

Meet CHIARA CONDELLO

At UVenoteca we love wines that tell a story. The story of a family, their land, local traditions and remarkable achievements.

Chiara grew up in Fiumana di Predappio near her family winery Condé, which was founded by her father Francesco Condello back in 2001. She studied Economics at Bocconi University in Milan and then, at the age of 24, she took over her family estate fully committed to not only preserve her family business, but also to elevate the reputation of the Sangiovese grape to new heights.

A few years ago Chiara commenced an exciting new project under her own name. The “Chiara Condello” selection consists of two 100% Sangiovese wines: a ‘normale’ called Romagna Sangiovese Predappio and her increasingly famous Riserva ‘Le Lucciole’.

Chiara's first vintage was 2015 and since then her reputation soared to the extent that today her wines are featured on the wine lists of some of the finest restaurants in the world.

Chiara’s wines are made in Predappio from some of the best plots in the Family vineyards, close to a forest where the vines are deeply rooted in calcareous-clay soil rich in sedimentary sandstones called “spugnone” and fossil marines. Farming is organic, with meticulous focus on biodiversity and the quality of the grapes.

In the cellar, Chiara follows a minimal intervention approach with spontaneous fermentation in open-top wooden vats with indigenous yeast and ageing in large neutral vessels.

The resulting wines are pure and expressive, richly textured and deeply layered with tannins of rare elegance.
