'The US is obviously carrying out a huge plot to frame China. CNN, citing several sources, said on Thursday that US intelligence agencies are digging through a treasure trove of genetic data that could be key to uncovering the origins of the coronavirus.

According to CNN, "This giant catalog of information contains genetic blueprints drawn from virus samples studied at the lab in Wuhan." The report claimed that "it's unclear exactly how or when US intelligence agencies gained access to the information." But it also said, with ulterior implications, the machines involved in creating and processing this kind of genetic data from viruses are typically connected to external cloud-based servers - leaving open the possibility they were hacked.

In a move to deliberately mystify public opinion, the report said intelligence agencies are relying on supercomputers at the Department of Energy's National Labs, and there are challenges to decode information since it is "written in Chinese with a specialized vocabulary."'

"The trends indicate that wages are continuing to steadily increase in China. How long that will hold remains to be seen however income inequality is ostensibly decreasing. As for notions of China’s warmongering, I think you’d be better off examining which powers have bases and ships surrounding China and routinely arming its neighbors in order to “contain” the country if you want to know about warmongering. Commodity production will exist for a long time in all societies regardless of ideology or economic system. Having a manufacturing sector does not make one capitalist. Centering the economy around the accumulation of unlimited profits for private entities instead of public good makes one capitalist."

On the fourth of June, 1989, in Tiananmen Square, Beijing; something happened. In the Western ‘free press’ media’s account, supposedly somewhere between 3,000 and 10,000 unarmed protestors were ‘massacred’ in the Square by the Chinese People’s Liberation army. According to CNN: “hundre...

"More than thirty years later, the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 remain a touchstone of a Western mythology spun to challenge the fundamental legitimacy of the Communist Party of China. By collapsing the diverse and often contradictory demands of protesters into a simplistic call for Western-style capitalist democracy, the West’s selective memory of June 4 continues to inform liberal platitudes to “stand with the Chinese people” against their government, reifying the universality of Western capitalism and U.S. global hegemony in the process.

This reading list compiles primary sources, Chinese state documents, and media fact-checking reports to challenge the hegemonic narrative of the Tiananmen protests. Far from the Western fairy-tale, these texts understand the June 4 tragedy in the context of the erosion of actually-existing socialism in the Soviet bloc, the contradictions of the reform and opening up period, antagonisms between student protesters, urban workers, and rural peasants, and the long challenge to China’s socialist past by “reformers” seeking to replicate the Western neoliberal model."

"Most of what we hear about Tiananmen in 1989 focuses on student activists, since they dominated Tiananmen square itself and waved banners demanding “freedom and democracy.” However, the real history of the protests is a bit more complex.

For starters, democracy — American or otherwise — was far from the minds of the students when the protests first kicked off. The primary three demands were related to price controls/inflation, official corruption, and labor market competition."

Most of what we hear about Tiananmen in 1989 focuses on student activists, since they dominated Tiananmen square itself and waved banners demanding “freedom and democracy.” However, the real history of the protests is a bit more complex.
