Tastings at our Queen Avenue and Allerton Road shops are taking a brief pause in August however dates are now online for September onwards. Get tickets while you can via our website.

TOP SHELF TASTING

There is a handful of tickets left for our top shelf tasting on 20th June. This experience is a bit more special to our usual tastings because we open up a selection of bottles that we don’t get to taste and enjoy very often. Maybe because there is limited supply of them so rare and unique, come with a heftier price tag or are very complex that sometimes a glass is enough but always with provenance and an intestine tale.

This would also make the perfect and one off Father’s Day present to treat someone for the upcoming day.

Father’s Day

We have a great suggestion as a gift to treat your loved one for the day known as ‘Father’s Day’. A tasting of some of the wines that adorn our top shelf that we might only get to try once in a lifetime. Our ‘Top Shelf Tastings’ are an experience that don’t happen very often and the chance to try some wines that are very rare, come with the heavier price tag and are famous for their own unique reasons.

Wine and cheese, is there a better duo? 🍷 🧀

Maybe, maybe not, there’s hundreds of them, but let’s just say it’s the best for this week. And that’s because we now have a selection of cheeses from available at the Allerton Road shop

Boxes of 3 or 5 different cheeses will be available every Thursday to buy until we sellout. Probably best and be quick to get yours for the weekend as they might all be gone by Saturday. Now what wine do you choose to go with them?

Did you know that Tuscan wine culture has a hidden secret? The enchanting tradition of “buchette del vino” or wine windows are a fascinating piece of Italy’s rich winemaking heritage.

Dating back to the Renaissance era, these small, elegant openings were ingeniously crafted into the walls of wineries, palaces, and homes across Tuscany. Serving as discreet dispensers, they allowed wine lovers to purchase their favorite wines directly from producers without entering the premises, ensuring both convenience and privacy. This was particularly popular during the pandemic of the bubonic plague. We should have had more of these during the Covid pandemic.

Whether you’re savoring a robust Chianti Classico or indulging in a velvety Brunello di Montalcino, each sip tells a story steeped in tradition and passion.

Sometimes the stars and moon align!

Hannah from gracefully matching up with this lovely bottle of Moon Apogé by Domaine des Carabiniers. A southern rhone blend from Lirac just outside of Avignon - Apogé referring to the lunar orbit and biodynamic farming methods that go into the bottle. Bingo!

Wine tastings are back!

We’re back to what we enjoy the most - trying good wines with nice people. Nine bottles to try each month with us next door at - our sister restaurant and wine bar.

Join from half six for a glass of fizz before we dig into the wines, the makers and where they come from. Rather than telling you what to taste, we’ll explore the stories behind them.

We’ll be matching these tastings up with a monthly case available for you to taste at home, with trusted old-timers and newly crowned favourites on rotation every month.

More wines hitting the shelves.

As ever, a focus on handmade wines driven by a sense of place. Solid labels always help, but its not the sole reason why we like these wines.

A couple of gorgeous wines here from Mas Coutelou - southern French varietals with zero additions that has been certified organic since 1987. Plus a super reasonable and understandably sought after Chin Chin Vinho Verde. Bagged and chilled for the weekend!

A wee tasting with ourselves and the good folks at Everyman towards the end of September. Solid scran with to boot!

Given the last couple years, we never really got the chance to pat ourselves on the back for the last decade toiling away down Queen Avenue - so here’s a small chance to open up some nice bottles with the folks that have supported us over the last decade. Things are changing, but we’ll be there to at least make sure you’re drinking something nice whilst it does.
