Niepoort have been producing port for over 150 years. Now In the hands of 5th generation brother and sister Dirk and Verena they have a formidable reputation for quality.

Always considered a niche player they do things a little differently, many of their vineyards have organic certification which Is very much against the grain of contemporary port making.

We have limited stock left at both shops which are open until Christmas Eve so get in early to avoid disappointment.

This Friday our mate will be in at Allerton Road from 4-7pm for a free tasting. Pouring a selection of wines from you can expect fresh, honest and delicious wines from Rioja, Priorat and the best of English Sparkling from Sugrue to name a few.

On the shelves now at Queen Ave and Allerton Road one of the very few orange wines from Rioja. From sisters Ana and Ruth de Andrea working with the Serrano family on 70 hectares of organic and biodynamic certified vines ranging between 20-40 years old.

Jump out the glass aromas of apricot, tangerine and sultanas with an especially dry finish and mouthwatering citrus acidity.

A little twist on our usual format-with a little less wine and a little more food. We’ll talk and taste our way through 5 wines as we pick and choose our way through 3 courses from the current a la carte menu at Queens Bistro.

After the success of last years Summer Wine Fair, it’s back, bigger and better 🍾

On Sunday 1st September will be making the most of the late summer sunshine by throwing the biggest wine fair to date in their beautiful garden. ☀️ 🌺

Ticket holders get access to the wine fair for 2 hours, with over 40 incredible wines to taste, and the opportunity to speak to winemakers and vendors about the stories and methods behind their production.

We are all hosting 2 x 2 hour sessions, the first one from 1-3pm and the second from 4-6pm - select your desired session when booking your tickets.

Tastings at our Queen Avenue and Allerton Road shops are taking a brief pause in August however dates are now online for September onwards. Get tickets while you can via our website.

TOP SHELF TASTING

There is a handful of tickets left for our top shelf tasting on 20th June. This experience is a bit more special to our usual tastings because we open up a selection of bottles that we don’t get to taste and enjoy very often. Maybe because there is limited supply of them so rare and unique, come with a heftier price tag or are very complex that sometimes a glass is enough but always with provenance and an intestine tale.

This would also make the perfect and one off Father’s Day present to treat someone for the upcoming day.
