Dear Neighbor,
This is a love letter about libraries, specifically the Woodstock Library. Libraries are good places, particularly for families with young children, for adult learners— actually for all of us. Here in Woodstock, our library is more than good; it is essential, because it encourages a love of books and reading in our children. It promotes literacy. It provides different forms of education for people of all ages, and contributes to the entire Woodstock community.
For more than three decades, The Friends of the Library of Woodstock have been committed to financially supporting the library and its programs.
Today, we are asking for your contributions and help. In addition to traditional services, our community needs more technology services and more up-to-date technology programs. We also need increased space for meetings, as well as the continuation of programs enjoyed by us all. Currently The Friends sponsor family programming and events, a children’s Summer Reading Program, the popular Library Forum, live music programs for adults, the Book Barn Sales, and the beloved annual Library Fair.
Happily, the new library building on Dixon Avenue will be able to provide an inspiring civic space for all of these programs, and more. The Friends are 100 percent committed to transforming our library into an up-to-date community hub, fully connected, wired for the future, and with beautiful meeting places and seating areas — all free to everyone!
This year, as we transition to the new building, is a particularly wonderful time to express library love. We are reaching out to you, our neighbors, our friends, our brother and sister library lovers: Will you make a tax-deductible contribution to The Friends of the Library? Every contribution counts. Together we can reach all the goals listed above for an even better library.
We are fond in this town of acknowledging our storied past. We have been on the map forever. What helped us get here and what will keep us here are the volunteers who protect us from harm, and those who run our cultural institutions. This community pool of spirited workers has been replenished with each generation. It’s time again to shore up today’s library volunteers. In addition to your donation, please join us as a Friends volunteer.
