Happy Hump Day!
HAPPY HUMP DAY! We think it's time to break up the week by skipping Napa or Burgundy and going full Mosel... Germany, that is. Now available in our Bazaar we have the 2018 Stein Spatburgunder Kabinett Trocken. That's a mouthful, so let's just call it "A tasty Pinot Noir from Germany."
What you get from this bottle is nothing less than impressive. It's got all the elegance you'd come to expect from the Pinot grape, but it's also substantial enough to stand up against meaty stews. On the nose is sharp and fruity, with blood orange, raspberry, and ripe cherry finished with strong granitic notes on the nose. In the mouth you'll get bright cherries, a bright minerality and hints of spice cutting through the tannins.
You may want to make Mosel your new midweek fav.

Do you know Pinot? It was a hit with the Romans.
Wrap yourself up in that toga and pour your countrymen a glass!
Yes, friends, Pinot Noir has been around a very, very long time. In fact, even the Caesars of Rome were enjoying the juice from this very special grape since the 1st century AD. Of course, they weren't the only people of the ancient world to enjoy a glass of Pinot.
After the Romans left, the Catholic Church took over and set up many monasteries across Europe to spread the word of God and their love for local wines. In Burgundy, Cistercian Monks probably used Pinot in their sacraments and remained the main winegrowers for centuries.
However, after the French Revolution, the vineyards were confiscated from the Church and redistributed to locals, most likely explaining why Burgundy vineyards are so divided today.
With this bit of history, you now have a reason to dress yourself in the good sheets.
Cheers!
Do you know Pinot?
Did you know that Pinot Noir gets its name from the shape of the grape clusters? Yep, the resemblance to pine cones led the grapes French cultivators to name it after the small pine cones found in their region. Tell us what you thought it meant in the comments.
