Cimarron Wine & Spirits is owned and operated by John and Jeanne Cole. We bought the building and business in late 2009. The building itself has been in Waynoka for a long time, and originally served as a Ford Dealership when built. It housed Parks Hardware for many years and LAMB Hardware for about five years before it became home to Cimarron Wine & Spirits. We share storefront space with Frillz Boutique & Salon, whose owner Debbie Bowers leased the space from us shortly after we purchased the building. John was the primary face of Cimarron Wine & Spirits until 2015 when Jeanne retired from full time work and started taking a more active role in the daily operations. Now you will see one or the other and sometimes both of us when you stop in to shop.
We enjoy seeing the familiar faces of our regular customers and especially enjoy making new friends every week through the tourists that visit Little Sahara State Park. It’s always interesting to learn where visitors come from to ride the sand and share the fun with their families and friends. For us, it’s also a walk down memory lane, as we rode the sand ourselves for about 25 years, at Little Sahara and traveling to sand dunes as far as California and Idaho.
Our passion these days is our classic car, a 1958 Ford Skyliner retractable hardtop. John enjoys sharing stories about the car and showing it off to our visitors. Yes, it’s stored in this once Ford Dealership garage in the “back room”.
We are looking forward to changes in the liquor business as some new laws take effect October 1, 2018 that will allow is to sell our full strength beer COLD. We’ve already got a walk in cooler in place and are shopping for retail coolers for the store front. We look forward to changes that will allow us to offer more diversity in merchandise so we can sell shot glasses and wine bottle openers as well as some souvenir items.
