Black's Grocery

Black's Grocery Locally owned and serving the Crossville community since 1922 Mr. Shirley Black opened the first store back in 1922.
(1)

Situated at a crossroads of two curvy dirt roads, in the new but aspiring community of Crossville. Both he and his sons - Clifton ("Tip") and Junior - would each in turn do their part by making sure that Black's Grocery was always a part of the community. Having had different buildings on 3 different corners of the crossroads over the years, the final and current home of Black's Grocery was built

by Junior in 1963. The store remained open for 45 years until the sign flipped to "CLOSED" for the final time on August 18, 2007. In 2018, eleven years shuttered, a massive cleanup began, and slowly over the course of 3 years, Black's Grocery began to rise up out of the dust eager to prove it could once again serve our Crossville Community. And so tomorrow at 5am, May 1st, 2021, 99 years removed from it's humble beginnings, the sign will once again read "OPEN" and Black's Grocery will begin the next chapter.
